It's amazing. Ford doesn't make what customers want. And makes a lot of what customers don't want. Ford is completely disconnected from reality

I've been contemplating one to replace my fusion hybrid. I have my f250 for when I need to do legit truck stuff. However I'm often shoving tools and stuff in my car and this may actually be a good fit for me.

Also, I'm western PA born and raised and this guy is so Pennsylvanian. Just brutally honest and calling it what it is.

Ordered a Lariat in 2022, got a different truck in late 2023, did not get the towing package or off road package I wanted but everything else. My job requires we have a 4 year old or newer 4wd truck, so when my time was up, I had no choice other than to quit, and that was not an option when there was a pandemic on. I paid sticker, still the dealer made it sound like he was doing me a favor, totally the worst buying experience, not because of the price haggling this time, but because of the attitude.

I work in forestry and I am no longer field staff I get out of the office once or twice a week to the woods. It has held up OK under the circumstances, I’m not taking it through 2’ deep logging road ruts or fording any deep streams with it, but it can handle most reasonable circumstances of slick logging roads and minor mud holes. One issue is the ground clearance, specifically the approach and departure angles, they are horrible. I will drag on water bars or some larger rolling dips if I’m not paying attention. Then again, an F150 will drag on most of these as well so 🤷‍♂️. They put out a Tremor model and when I order another it will have that package on it just to get better angles. The transmission is a total slushbox, designed and geared for efficiency rather than practicality, I also chalk this up to not being the FX4 package I ordered, but it does get 28-32 mpg on the highway 27 combined so I’m not seriously complaining. The interior had “Activex” vegan leather. This is a joke, it’s nothing but a softer vinyl and during the Louisiana summers you will get swamp @$$ from it. Definitely not worth the upcharge. Copilot360 is awesome, it will for all practical purposes drive itself on the highway, not that I’m going to let it, but it will keep you centered and distanced way better than the GM/Chrysler alternatives. I’ve filled the bed with topsoil bags, plywood, OSB, and firewood. It’s handled the weight reasonably well, though I ran the numbers on weight so I would not overload it.

Overall, I’d say it does what I need it to do and did not cost 45k+ like what a full sized work truck will run these days…

Well, I have a horse farm and I do have an F-250 super duty for pulling the horse trailer and hauling Hay and any other normal horse farm stuff, however I am considering getting a Maverick, so I don't have to keep un-hooking trailers or pulling the truck up to the house just to load it up with some trash cans and recycling to take to the dump. It is a little over kill using a super duty to take the trash out every weekend. I don't have trash service out in the country I have to take it to the towns satellite dump site. I also would like it for getting stuff at the hardware stores like boards without having to spend a butt load in fuel.

Did you forget the difference between right and left? The cell phone holder is on the right, but you referred to it exclusively as being on the left. I thought I was misunderstanding what it was you were referring to, until you said that it's closer to the passenger. 😂

Would love to have one....just not with the astronomical price tags... even still, the cost is absolutely ridiculous. I have a real truck... but for work, I find myself wanting to drive it every day because it is more practical than having a hitch rack on my crv. But for obvious reasons, it is not practical to drive a v10 that gets 10 gallons to the mile. But my Honda isn't super fuel efficient either. Like 24-27 mpg all highway just cruising 70mph.

The Automation player in me LOVES this car. Make a turbo i4, and cram it transversely into just about everything. A foolproof strategy that pays big.

Maverick is almost a flop now. I only really see them as fleet vehicles.

The cubby-hole thing is definitely a space filler. When i replaced the radio in my 2012 focus, i had to replace the radio interface with one that was for the double DIN form factor. That just came with a single DIN sized cubby in case you only put a single DIN radio in there.

I might consider one at MSRP IF it came in a 2 door model with a longer bed and a non turbocharged engine.

I need a truck very little like maybe once or twice a year when I move due to my job, I started looking and hated the jump from a sedan that gets me from a to b with good gas mileage straight to the fuckin big rig I can haul a house with. I'm happy ford is addressing the light use cases where for 80% of the time it will most likely be empty but when its required I can move tons of stuff around I can no sweat.

chevys 2.5 na would be a great compact truck motor, would be nice though to keep it under 3000lbs.

I really took issue with making a hybrid option, but taking away awd for it, and also further reducing the tow capacity. That's just silly, you have an on demand electric motor to kick on when needed to drive the other pair of wheels or give extra pull when starting. The hybrid should be just as capable, even if you have to run the engine full time when towing or something.

This is what I am here for, a little bit of butt stuff and a well-researched and presented review as only RCR can do.

I think the reason they named this the Maverick is because, outside the US, the Ford Maverick was a rebadged Nissan SUV.

I think this is the limit of what you can show up with to a rural North Dakota bar and not get catcalled for being less masculine than their wives. Somebody is still going to put the LOCALLY HATED and punisher decals on it though, I guarantee.

Most of the people who buy F-150s should’ve just gotten this. It’s a truck the size of a car, and most people don’t need anything more.

The biggest problem with it is not even so much the lack of towing or payload capability... but that the bed is too little. Of course, I also think that about all of these crew cab short bed F-150s driving around not doing any work.

If they made it in manual trans id buy it in a flash. Getting a tacoma manual instead

We drive our F350 maybe 3,000 miles a year. When we do it’s hauling something other than just people. Completely impractical for anything other than that. You gotta have deep pockets to daily a commercial vehicle.

My dad has one of these and yeah it’s a really nice family four-door car.

I got a 2014 Ford Escape and I smoke people at red lights at will so you could have talked about the 2.0 Ecoboost superior torque and ability to smoke V8s like I smoke joints. At least mine does that is my Ford Escape and not the Maverick your testing.
