Having spent most of my life in Alaska as an avid hunter and fisherman, I can certainly pick this apart and find a lot of ill prepared ignorance. This guy and anyone else planning to spend any time in the wild needs to be educated in survival skills and equipped for a survival situation. A lot of bad decisions here, poorly trained and lacking tools.

Every single time you go in the woods for even a day hike you need the 5 c’s. Every time. Cutting tool, metal container, combustion device, cover element still, and cordage as well as a little bit of skill would have made his week a lot more comfortable. That stuff can save your life. Carry it.

I don't understand. Why was there a photo of a shot bear and the proud shooter? "Spiritual" men of God going out to kill animals. Obviously people don't kill bears in the wild to eat them or do they? Do people shoot bears for the thrill of it?

I don't care we're you are in the world there is always driftwood and human debre he had a knife and two rifles he most definitely could of made a fire and even adding brush to the tree could of made a shelter and taking the gun powder to make a fire

we should appreciate the wild and all its beauty and make it last as long as possible

I know next to nothing about survival but for starters how could you not have a fire starter source with you AT ALL TIMES. And you could have tried to start a fire by opening a couple of bullets and using the powder as fuel and make a spark off a piece of metal and stone - hey, it would be better than spending the day sitting on tree roots. And bears or no bears, with 2 big game guns for protection I would have made a better shelter out of the D*** flood plane. Wtf happened to Garret? They just said at the end "oh btw Garret was found dead a distance from the boat, ok now let's wrap this up." That doesn't explain anything unless Garrets parents didn't want that disclosed.

Should try to make a fire, and certainly get a try and protected shelter. With a rifle you have protection against wolves and bears. Belief in a sectarian god is not of much use.
