Earthquakes, volcanos, vast Mountain Ranges, the Sierras, the Cascades the Warners and the Fauna and Flora giving the Natural diversity to survive in the awesome differences of topographical Regions, as our Wilderness Areas must be acknowledged and revered for retaining the vast potential of Our inherent Ecological treasures!
ОтветитьThat was interesting. I have only been to California once when I was 12. That was to Disney Land. I would love to see all the other beautiful sights. Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьAs a Ventura resident I am glad my town was placed in the central coast. I don't like to associate with Los Angeles.
ОтветитьCalifornia is BIG. I can drive north for 10 hours from San Diego and guess what, I'll still be in California. The geography of the state is relatively new compared to the rest of the continent. Plate tectonics and faults are still shaping the landscape. California has both the highest point (Mt Whitney) and the lowest point (Death Valley) in the contiguous US. And these 2 points are less than 100 miles apart.
ОтветитьCalling San Jose a "suburb" of SF reveals that you spent too much time with people who never get out of San Francisco.
ОтветитьLol you forgot the whole inland empire an hour away from LA 😅
ОтветитьYou went from Santa Maria to Santa Barbara and skipped over Lompoc...it's okay we're used to being left out 😃
ОтветитьI'm biased, I'm a California native, & it's the only place I have ever resided. We here in the Golden State, know that all is not perfect here, but I surely wouldn't live anywhere else. I'm located near the Bay Area, where we are just hours from Muir Woods, the Beach, Yosemite, & the Death Valley, we love the diversity of it all! California is beyond beautiful, thank you for your awesome video!
ОтветитьDude wtf is the background music
ОтветитьThe people that reside in California's interior (away from The SF Bay Area, for example) tend to be for the most part evil demonic control freaks. Perhaps the heat is one of the factors
ОтветитьPorcupine Mountains Summit Peak -> 1,952' (2.5 Billion years old, the oldest mountains in the United States, as evidenced by the huge copper deposits there.)
Sutter Butte peak elevation -> 2,122′
The only reason Sutter Butte keeps getting referred to as the smallest mountain range is because Porcupine Mountains are so worn down by glaciers, etc... that people have ceased to think of them as mountains, but are believed to have once been as high as the Himalayas and are still in existence, but look more like rolling hills at this point. They are the true smallest mountains. They were also a true mountain range, not the leftovers of "a volcano."
Excellent video! Thanks for the overview
ОтветитьNorthern California seems to have more in common with Washington and Oregon than it does with Southern California
ОтветитьMy son is currently hiking the PCT in California. Starting on Mexican border going to Canadian border. He is sending me the most amazing and beautiful pictures of the regions he is going to. Truly amazing and diverse!
ОтветитьBay Area rules, SoCal drools.
ОтветитьOh, I thought we were going to learn why so much of the state is extremely beautiful, while Los Angeles and San Francisco are such $h!th0!e$. Oh wait.....we already know that.
ОтветитьBecause it’s big.
ОтветитьNever heard it called the "karkwinnezz straight"
ОтветитьI lived in California up until 13 years ago ... and I don't miss it one tiny little bit.
ОтветитьLittle bit offended. You didn't cover the southern inland portion of CA: the Imperial Valley (e.g., Brawley, El Centro, Calexico). Wonder why? There, one of the largest produce producing areas of THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES exists. When people go to the supermarket chances are they're buying produce from there. Also, "the Valley," as those of us that come from there call it, is home to Holly Sugar, which is one of the major sugar producers in the U.S.. Finally, the Valley is home to Glamis: One of the most popular sand dune areas where people come to camp and ride their ATV's in the U.S.! Ya got it it generally close, but missed--I would think--some (or a) pretty significant area(s) that exist in CA...
ОтветитьWhile this is a great video, I think an area that deserves its own recognition are the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The rolling hills nestled between the high Sierra mountains and the lowland valley are a treasure. Not the least of all to mention this is where the Gold Rush was born! From Nevada County all the way down to Stanislaus County, it’s definitely a place all it’s own.
ОтветитьAw man c'mon! San Diego known for much more than that 😂 We're the defense of the state 🛡️ Fighter town USA! 🚢The Mediterranean jewel of America! 🏝️ Oh well, we're always overlooked anyway hahaha!
Ответитьnothing beats new England's beauty!
deal with it
Ah Lourdie, silly goofballs, where did you get your educations? Desert refers only to average annual precip, it does not imply anything about vegetation (parts of the sonoran seem more lush than the forests a vertical mile up the adjacent mtns), about average temperature (most polar regions are also deserts), nor even if you're talking about dry landmass, or the surface of marshlands, or a lake. I would call the entire (once) great valley a semi desert, to distinguish from lands lee of the mtns to the east, clearly drier in the south. Nevertheless, entire place once a rich mosaic of wetlands, dry oak-syc woodlands, riparian willow-cottonwood forests, grassland savanna, and in springtime, long ago, flower fields far as eye could see. Despite being semidesert, one of the richest most lush oasises fertile grounds w highest species diversity in an already highly diverse state - but freaking humans, namely the euros, altogether dredged drained mowed plowed converted or beaten forever down w hoof or asphalt, so less than 5% of original rich mosaic remains, most of it in the north, now vast monocrop wastelands where only a handful of species can survive, rather than the hundreds that once - I just can't get over how little humans left for nature, any species taking 35% or more for itself would be brazen, egoistic, megalomaniac and rest assured soon doom itself, it's just sad all the wonderful species that also had to perish because of us. We need to shrink until there's less than a billion, then maintain that population size - NOT KEEP GROWING, that's what bacteria do in a petri dish, not conscientious mammals
ОтветитьCalifornia rocks.
Ответитьpretty good, but you said that three different lakes are "the biggest lake in California."
ОтветитьIf you could unhitch part of present-day California from the liberal areas of LA and SF and similar places, I might consider moving there. It's a pretty place marred only by the ugliness of the far-left loonies. Not all (most?) Californians are mindless leftists.
Ответитьit would be bad ass if we could put a few mountains in the mouth of the bay again. we could solve three problems: people that live in the bay area, the bay area, and CA droughts
ОтветитьI enjoyed this video very much but I think one area that was sort of missed was the Gold Country around Highway 49 that goes north and south along the Sierra Nevada foothills and is very different from the other regions. Perhaps you considered this part of the Sierra Nevada region but the Highway 49 area has a very different feel and geography from South Lake Tahoe which sits IN the Sierra Nevada whereas the towns along Highway 49 sit alongside the Sierra Nevada in a transition zone between the Sierra Nevada and the Central Valley.
ОтветитьAs a life long California native, my opinion is Santa Barbara is roughly the northern limit of coastal Southern California. North of Goleta and the Santa Ynez Valley is the Central Coast. Some consider Point Conception as the logical division as the ocean changes in temperature, current and roughness. The climate shifts here. This makes SB definitely southern California. Between Salinas and Santa Cruz it becomes "Northern California". Even though San Francisco is about center of the coast between Oregon and Mexico. The best parts of this planet are in California in spite of its large population.
ОтветитьIf you want the treat of a lifetime, you should drive Highway 1 (The Pacific Coast Highway, or PCH) that hugs the coast all the way from the Mexican border to the Canadian border. The Oregon and Washington coast portions are beautiful, but the Californian coast is by far more diverse. Do yourself a favor and add it to your bucket list.
ОтветитьI love how people think Arizona is all desert when we have so much forest every state in the west has desert and forest
Ответить💯 the natural beauty and diversity of the region of the state of California are truly breathtaking, however the political spectrum there is destroying the state with its horrendous policies.
ОтветитьSome of the pronunciation was painful to hear.
Ответитьthe only problem with California is that it's full of Californians
ОтветитьWhile the scenery is nice, the entire state is a shithole, and you couldn't pay me to live there.
Ответитьyou forgot the INLAND EMPIRE b****!!
ОтветитьWe visit Tahoe each summer. Went to Redwoods over Thanksgiving. Went to "the desert" a few times over Christmas.
ОтветитьI live here. Thanks
ОтветитьPerfect Music choice for this video. It sounds almost magical. Great presentstion my friend. I highly appreciate this video. Truly.
Great love from Denmark
Point of order: Mexico is only desert in the North, and has alpine forests like the Canada picture in the center. Also Canada has deserty spots in the central plains. You can do better than the generalizations.
ОтветитьI was born in Santa Ana California, but I don't even have one memory of ever being there. Hopefully someday I will make it back out there though to at least visit & see what it looks & feels like to be there.

I grew up in San Diego with LA being my second home, always out in the desert and at the age 21 moved up to Paradise in NorCal, traveling all up north to fight fires. I have to say its extremly astonishing how diverse this state is from region, culture, and way of life. I love San Diego but after living in Butte County I think it holds a special place in my heart and I miss being up there every day. This video does California justice for sure, good work my friend
ОтветитьI love this state. We have so much.
ОтветитьIt should secede
ОтветитьAs somone who is from California in the san francisco bay area I agree this state is beautiful
ОтветитьHi again! I am, as you know, fairly new to your channel. I have learned so much from your channel! I do not if this will stop you from saying this again. But I find you very thorough in all your information you provide. Please keep up the good work. As I said before, I have found your channel to be very interesting!
ОтветитьGood piece--thanks from a native Californian for making it.
ОтветитьRedding should not be lumped in with the Central Valley. The only real agriculture is hay growing in support of cattle ranches. The original economic drivers were mining and lumber, i.e. extractive industries. Now it's mostly tourism centered on the region's nature-based recreational opportunities. There is very little Hispanic influence, more typical in the lower Central Valley because of labor intensive agricultural crops. Culturally, Redding has more in common with Yreka and Oregon cities like Medford and Roseburg. So it definitely belongs with the Cascade region IMO.
