Great hunt Nate! Maybe I’m crazy but I haven’t found mergs to be all bad. I soak them in saltwater for a couple days then marinate them in Worcestershire sauce for another day or 2. I’ve made poppers (because everything tastes good wrapped in bacon with cream cheese) and also cooked them on the grill to rare or medium rare. If you cook them any longer than that the toughness and shoe leather taste starts showing up. Make sure you season them up good before cooking. Maybe give it a try if you’re feeling wild!

A product called Seal All will close up that decoy that Gary perforated for you. I buy it at Dollar General store. Works on a lot of stuff, including gas cans. Speaking of gas cans, you had me at Waffle House, I'm in!
