I just ran across a problem that I don’t know how to explain it. I have a cousin with a common ancestor from the 1600. He did dna and I have done dna but according to ancestry we are not related through dna. The only thing I can think of it is that it is too far down the line to connect. Do you have any suggestions

I love looking on eBay. My great great uncle, Ky Laffoon, was a famous golfer, and I found a really cool pic of him and my great grandfather on eBay. And I found one of Ky’s golf clubs signed by him! Thank you for these sites! Your content is so helpful! If I had the time I’d love to just watch all your content for days and become a genealogist master! Maybe one day! lol

I use both family's search and findagrave.....I have done my family tree on findagrave. The thing about doing a cemetery search and then last name, that only works if a F.A.G memorial page exist in the website.

Hi I thought I heard you announce Ancestry was treating all records the same so we call access US and International files from the lower tiered account. I still can’t access international files from my account. Did I miss something? Thanks

Thanks Connie, great information! Google Books has free newspapers that can be searched also. I found news articles about my great-grandmother and a picture of her there. I always wondered what she looked like. My mother verified the picture was her. This is the only picture of her that we know of. I was so excited when I found it.

Never know what you might find on Google. Several years ago I was looking for something on my husband’s uncle and came across a book that had information about him. The book was mainly about his 2nd wife’s family in Florida. He lived with her family for a number of years. His wife also lived with one of his sisters while he was serving in WW2. I was so excited to find some of this information. Eventually it was released on Kindle and my husband and I were able to read it. It was nice to find out more about their life in Florida. I was able to speak with the author of the book and he filled in some more details. It’s a very interesting read-

We found 2 family bibles, same family, but one of the bibles is in very poor condition. It was in a plastic bag, it’s been since been transferred to a cloth bag. But we found some old funeral memorials with it. One for my gg grandma and one for my great grandpa.

I was born in 1946. My people put down birth and death dates in the family Bible. This was done because most children were born at home. I have a 1855 Bible that was written with a quill from my great aunt husband's family, the John Brown line.

Isn't Geni a global tree... where your tree becomes part of a larger tree? I have tried placing trees on other sites..other than ancestry.. but I don't update them.. or go back and correct... can't frankly remember what I have on what site... so I stick with one.. and I only subscribed to ancestry... back up to Family Tree Maker... so I have copies of images of various documents.
