I disagree with under screen fingerprint sensor, not secure or fast enough, I would prefer a thicker phone with a thicker power button, that has the fingerprint sensor built in.

This is possibly the best note ever made. Quad HD display, iris scan, face/fingerprint unlock, micro sd, 4k at 60 camera with telephoto lens and a 3.5 headphone jack and a Bluetooth s pen! Are you serious???

The best part is the price and the fact this phone was my dream at one point even though I had the note 8 that I loved so much, didn’t even think twice about the note 9 until I ended up with an iPhone it was nice in the first 1-2 months, but after that I got bored with it, idk why but it just didn’t have the magic the note 8 and note 9 had for me. I still don’t feel like this phone came out that long ago. This is the closest phone that could give me the vibe the note 8 gave me.

I love this phone to death, but at least mine has started to fail quite a lot (it's 5 years old none the less!). I'd love to have a new one and I'm upgrading, but this ohone has been legendary, better than a ton of other flagships

I got this phone from my mom, and it still works great. If you're getting this for an elderly person or like a teenager. I would even say for yourself. It's about 200 plus. And it still handles everything great. Definitely worth buying

The rear fingerprint reader works 100x better than the newest in screen sensor. You wouldn't hold it that way in actual use.

Hell yeah it's worth it. Hell, I was using Note 4 until like a month ago and I was happy with it but I think the motherboard started going bad. Just bought the N9 and it's way more than I ever need. After all, to me a phone's just a phone. The only extra thing I want in a phone is a "pen", or the stylus. Oh, a good camera doesn't hurt, which the N9 has. Everything else doesn't matter but today's generation is too spoiled and too materialistic and has no concept of "saving".

Bought used note 9 recently and first impressions are just great, its old but it frm that time where phones got so fast you cant tell them apart unless side by side.
Screen is amazing! compared to my poco x3 and it looked so dull on x3, the speakers sound great, the built in amp does wonders, the dolby atmost also enchances audio. outside outdated android you can easily pass this phone as 2023 device if nobody told you its from 2018.

only downside it gets HOT and audio starts to crackle when it does, might be dried up thermal putty or whatever they used, still 10/10 device.

I just bought my S22 Ultra earlier this year, and I didn't trade my Note 9 in because it honestly wasn't worth anything. I am now using it as a mini tablet and keeping it charged to use to Google something or check an email notification. I always had problems with the fingerprint sensor so I chose not to use it. I'm old so I am accustomed to using a pin # anyway. It doesn't hold a charge the way it did when it was newer, which is to be expected. But it serves me well as a chair side little tablet, so I'll continue using it until it dies!

The thing is, the only oudated part of the smartphone since 2018 is the software, the hardware is pretty much capable of running any major OS releases. But of course the model now for any tech products is "Planned Obsolescene".

I definitely prefer a continuous, uninterrupted screen than a stupid hole punch or an ugly notch. If the redmagic 8 or the fold 5 weren't so expensive, I'd probably buy either of them.

Beware, not only the battery degrades, but also the water resistance. I would not submerge it in water after 5 years. I also still use my Note 9 aftet 5 years.

I dropped my note 9 in my bathwater years ago. I took it out of the otterbox, removed the stylus pen, removed the sim card, shook out the excess water, buried it in a pot full of rice overnight and the next day it powered right up like nothing happened. Still going strong and the only issue I have is the stylus pen is stuck. Excellent reliability after nearly six years. Those Koreans really know what they're doing. 👍

July 15 here, my Galaxy Note 9 gives me the best user experience! I still have my note 20 (not ultra) which I took to my nearest tech shop for my long overdue upgrade. I spent nearly 20 minutes comparing it to the S23 ultra display, I must say I have no idea what all the fuss is about with the S23 ultra! My N20 display seemed sharper, I was shocked!Needless to say I didn't upgrade.

Yes its a nice phone, if you use it as a secondary phone.
But NO its not worth buying it in 2023, get one with Android 13 on it, if its your primary phone
Get a used phone like S21U which will have the newest Android on it

Nice video. However, it does show that the creator may not be (or was not) a Note 9 user. The critique of the fingerprint sensor on the back shows this. @mariaeov280900 said it, the sensor in the back is in the perfect position and naturally adapts to your hand when you grab the phone. If you have a cover on the phone it is even better. I don't smudge the camera or anything like that. If they released this phone again with the fingerprint sensor in the screen I may need to rethink on buying it again. It will ruin the design.

The lack of the punch hole, or notch is great. I have a different phone for work that has the notch and it is so annoying to see when you are looking at the full screen or watching a video.

Also, the Bixby button is the worse part of this phone. You have a button that doesn't do anything for anyone except for Samsung. This was a design flaw and will support Samsung on releasing the Note 9 with an allowance for the user to assign a different function to that button.

The lack of updates after Android 10 was so disappointing. I am considering on downloading a custom OS that was based on the OneUI from the S20+. It has Android 13.

I am disappointed that at some point I will have to part ways with my Galaxy Note 9 because it doesn't have 5G capabilities 😭.

Overall, nice review, but clearly not a Note 9 user.

If Samsung just gave it 5G and Android 14, it would be superb in 2023. 🌠 Even without those, I would still use a Note 9 over the hole punched, cardless, jackless, S23 Ultra. 😶

The only issues with note 9 are the screen problem like green screen or the yellowish screen, and also the 4000mah battery is barely going to last a day. But overall its still better than nowadays midrange, especially if you get the snapdragon version
