Another way to scale back could be just to write them a letter, it comes off as more personal since you took the time to write it but it wasn't expensive😊

You can buy a coffee mug at the dollar store and put Little goodies in it and I think friends and family will love that!

Great tips, Caitlin - thanks. To keep it simple, we are not doing gifts this year because we are all just too busy and gifts aren't truly critical y'know? But we are having Friendmas! Are you planning on doing some baking/cooking vlogs? I haven't nailed down what I'm going to make yet.

I started doing this 3 years ago. You wouldn't believe how helpful it is to look back and see what was given in past years so you don't gift the same things over and over!

I save tissue paper and cute paper bags all year round and use them for birthdays and Christmas. I couldn’t tell you that last time I bought tissue paper 😅

I have a gift ideas list in the front of my bullet journal, created at the beginning of the year, where I can collect gift ideas for people all around the year or write wishes down, when people mention them. Saves energy not just for christmas but also when birthdays come around.

I have found asking people can be very helpful if your not sure. Maybe ask for three ideas they would like. It give you a idea of what they like meaning you can get something they actually want/need and not buying superfluous items. A secret Santa is brilliant as long as a bug get is pre set.

I love how you inspire me to be more organized! 😄 The way I have always prepared for Christmas is to buy early. So that I don't have to join the holiday rush. Like, today, I'm 80% done with my gift shopping.

Although, I must say that downside is I tend to spend more. So I'll definitely try making a budget next holiday season.

hey Caitlin..What do you do with old books and textbooks? I want to transition to ebooks, because I live in a small space and I get REALLY overwhelmed by clutter and piles of books..they just need to go!! Any ideas please?

I don’t really have to buy gifts because my family doesn’t want them, I’ll just bring some kinda food that my mom says she wants for dinner. And I don’t really have irl friends, a lot of my friends are in other countries and shipping is…oof. I might bake cookies this year like I used to do and give them away to coworkers.

The thing is, I really hate cards. They always end up getting thrown away and it’s just a waste of paper. People always just do “merry Christmas, love [their name].” Like…there’s no point to that? Why bother? It’s not personalized, they just write the same thing on every card. But it sucks that for my foreign friends, that’s about all I can do.
