I miss good SNL so much! When I was a kid and into my teens, on Saturday nights I’d go to bed at my regular bedtime but rather than stay up reading with a flashlight like I normally did until my mom made it very clear that it was way past my bedtime so I should be sleeping not reading, I would pretend to fall asleep right away so I didn’t keep my parents up and I would sneakily watch SNL. It was one of the best shows on television for decades thanks to actors/comedians like this, but it really took a nosedive over the last ten or fifteen years. I miss watching the actors improv like this with the sole goal of making their scene partner laugh and break character. Very few things are funnier than when both of the actors on screen tried to do it to each other, and you could see how hard they were trying not to break! Lol. Now it’s a completely different show. The regulars aren’t that funny and the writing sucks. It’s so bad that in recent years a lot of celebrities have declined the offer to host. Watching the show’s fall from grace has been such a bummer. Hopefully one day they’ll switch back to their old way of doing things and we’ll see a new generation of comedians like this get their start at Studio 8H.

The year they had Short,Crystal,Guest,Hall,Shearer and Jim Belushi was so great.
