Very helpful. Thank you.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьI have literally been cutting my nail folds the entire time thinking it’s the cuticle!! I’m going to get the products and mend my folds. Thank you so much for sharing this. Us non professionals don’t know this information, at least I didn’t. Can’t wait to have healthier nails. 🫶💅
ОтветитьForgot to mention….OMG the kerasal foot cream used around you nails and prox nail fold is amazing! It’s getting rid of all that messiness on my skin area around my nails. My hands spend too much time in water washing them with the kitties, so it suffers. Getting better since using OPI oil and hand and nail creams.
ОтветитьStill binge watching your videos as I do work. Your voice is so soothing, it brings my blood pressure down about ten points while I listen. Thank you.
ОтветитьGreat info! I never before understood the difference between the 'fold' that is living skin and the cuticle. Thank you!
ОтветитьYou have such naturally beautiful nails ❤
ОтветитьI really needed this education. It truly helped to be educated on this to take better care of my nails.
ОтветитьGreat video. The sort of overview I needed. Thank you very much.
ОтветитьThis is the truth!
ОтветитьSo helpful! Ive been cutting my cuticles and experiencing exactly what you describe as a reaction from my skin to overgrow! I will try the products!
ОтветитьYou’re awesome!!! This made my heart happy ❤
ОтветитьHello, just so you know, the links for the nail polish do not work. Thank you for the video.
ОтветитьThis is the video I needed and wasn’t even looking for!
Omg thank you thank you!!
AND the link you provided?! 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾
Omg this has been sooooo helpful!! I recently started working at a mens nail spa, and so many men come in with insane cuticles. I'm now realizing its been taking me forever to clean their cuticles because I was over pushing! And I've never been too happy with how they look because it just looked dry and so much excess skin. This just gave me another boost of confidence! I was getting worried I just suck as a nail tech 🤣 we all learn and start somewhere
ОтветитьEveryone is so confusing about what is actually the cuticle and whether it is safe to remove, but your video was very helpful. So, it is safe to remove that sticky layer of dead skin? I wanna start doing some gelx nails, and I wanna make sure my nails don't get messed up during nail prep.
ОтветитьWhat if you push the PNF back and you're being very gentle and it starts to bleed?
ОтветитьExcellent, again, no chatter, clear background info, real life examples!! If someone is trying to economize, on my heels I use Cerave SA lotion (has 4% salicylic acid, almost as much as Kerasal) , then I put a little bit of petrolatum (Vasiline) on top. Get the petrolatum in a tube so you're not sticking your fingers in a tub when you have other products on your fingers. Going to give the Eucerin a try!!
ОтветитьThis is civil & respectful…however, I can’t help wondering why someone who has defaced their lovely hands with all that ink would be concerned about dry skin around their nails?
ОтветитьI highly suggest leaving a small bottle of nail oil and the lotion by the sink. I love the gold bond lotion.
ОтветитьI still have lots of skin at the sides of my fingers (sidewalls). Any you post how to file that?
ОтветитьMine covered about 1/3 of my nail plate until I started taking care of them. Pushing back after a shower and applying a small amount of oil after showers and hand washing.
ОтветитьI know this video is a year old, but this is the first time I have seen this condition addressed, and a clear and concise solution for fixing it. I am never cutting my cuticles again. I used this method for the first time and I already see results. Thank you!
ОтветитьGreat video! I am going to try this. I do need it:-) Thank you. Cheers from Nova Scotia.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this informative video, you've got yourself another subscriber.
I'm studying for my state board exam to obtain my license in cosmetology and I really want to learn about nail care specifically to help my husband out. I was taught the basics in manicuring so that I can simply get my license but it feels so empty. Yea we learned about nail diseases and health conditions and what not but promoting health and assisting in the healing process is exactly what I want to learn. I really want to help my clients maintain healthy nails because I've noticed so many people (usually of really older age) get hesitant when their nails begin to ache and it prevents them from enjoying certain activities. Nails are such a sensitive area!
Thanks to these videos I also learn what to look for in products and which ones to buy. I love that you showed alternative methods to address certain things that still leave you with the desired results. Again, thank you very much for this. I can only hope to continue to grow further as a cosmetologist. Wish me luck on my state board exam in April 2023.
Hi I m learning Beauty course nowadays, just few hours back I heart a customer by distraction of my mine and my eyes by cuticle cutter I feel so embarrassed, and I scared to that I can't get work now, but still I hope and this video help me out for optional of cuticle care without cutting in salons
ОтветитьThank you for being very specific about the different areas of the nails. Thank you for giving visuals and explaining the importance of different areas. I never knew about under the cuticle, etc. Thank you for this wonderful education. My nails will have a happy life because of you! 💗⭐
ОтветитьDo have/or can you make a video on ingrown toenails?
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this. This is the best tutorial for cuticle care I have ever see. Love it.
ОтветитьWhat cuticle oil do you recommend?
ОтветитьWhat would you recommend someone do who’s proximal mail folds are very calloused from years of damage and cutting due to misinformation? I’d like to help heal my skin and hands but I’m not sure where to start
Ответитьthank you so much for your videos!! I've just realized I've been pushing back the skin waaaay too aggressively. and i have a bad habit of scraping the cuticle off while it's dry 🙈🙈 i usually have a lot of flakiness and it gets me 😑 I've known about the healthy nail care routine and about Doug Schoon for about 7 years now, but it's always been a back and forth process for me. most of the time I'm motivated to moisturize and be gentle and it's great. sometimes i just don't care and everything gets dry and i get hangnails and even cut the skin, knowing well it's bad. i love how you always can find something new, learn another technique or new tips :) even if the basics are rather simple. never hurts to revisit them! it's very inspiring to keep going ♥️
Ответитьohmygosh where have you been all my life!!! Thank you so much for the detailed explanations, I’ve been approaching my horrible nails all wrong!
ОтветитьWow! Thank you! 😅
I'll be doing all this asap to FINALLY solve this problem. My mum also said she did a course for nail care and they cut her cuticles and they've been overgrown ever since. What a good job they did! 🙄
I'll show her this as well 😊💖
Thank you for this video ! It was very informative ; I was not taught the proper way to care for cuticles in nail school unfortunately but you are a big help ! I wanted to know if I could do this prep before I add enhancements to a clients nails ? Or would it promote lifting ? Thank you !! 🤍
Edit: I just got my answer from watching another video 🤣 new subscriber xx
Thank you! I was looking for this information for years. My fold was cut so deeply at my last appointment I don’t want to go back. I’m never letting anyone cut it again. I’m doing my own nails for good now.
ОтветитьWhat about ppl who have really thick cuticles that don’t dissolve?
ОтветитьWhat if you already have a long proximal nail fold from cutting? I have this... will it ever shrink in size with proper care? If so, what are the appropriate correction actions? Follow what you have recommended in the video? Thank you!
ОтветитьI have a question: when you try to remove the cuticles for the second time ( 925 ,after you sprayed the water) from the video I cannot see any cuticles but yet there are those white flakes that clearly lift and that you remove. How do you know it is cuticle versus the actual nail that perhaps it is weakened from the alkaline solution?
ОтветитьCame back to check the exact versions of CeraVe and Eucerin you were recommending.
Wanted to add one thing: I'm glad you showed people to use only a small dab of these moinsturizers on hands. I don't know about other places, but here in the US, people use way too much of these lotions, I'm talking quarter-sized or even larger portions per hand. I guess they think that using more will work better, but, in reality, it doesn't. My mom the nurse was the one who explained to me that putting too much moisturizer on your hand at once will have the opposite effect than what you want, because too much oil sends back the message (so to speak) that you have too much moisture in your skin, so your body compensates by sending less natural oil there. This will cause your skin to dry out even more. Then you're in a vicious cycle of using more and more lotion, but having worse dry skin than ever. While that's a boon to the lotion companies, it's not so great for your skin--or your wallet.
So, like you showed, use a wee bit. It will work better, and make these products last longer. Win/win!
This is so amazing, I have been struggling with how to fix this for forever. Never could find anything helpful online that wasn't just cutting them off, which felt like it wasn't a good long term solution. Trying this next time I do my own manicure!
ОтветитьOMG, thank you for the explanation on cuticles... I just cut them yesterday, it does not feel good. Bought some jojoba oil as recommended and will follow a weekly regiment with pushing them back. Thank you again, life saving! :-)
ОтветитьWonderful video. I’m guilty of abusing my PNF. I will stop immediately. Thanks so much.
ОтветитьI’m so happy to have come across this video, I feel like it’s helped me with months of research on managing my cuticle health, but within a matter of minutes, and it makes sooo much sense! Really helpful, thank you so much for this type of advice❤
Ответитьhi im 64 almost 65 for about 3 years i guess i have been having some kind of skin growing under my free edge i have been picking it just can not get rid of or know what it is.i know you are not doctor but what can it be and what to do about it thanks Arlene
ОтветитьLOL--I just picked up the Kerasil yesterday, before seeing this video. Can't wait to try it.
Another great (and cheap) tip for keeping your feet moisturized--it will sound crazy, but this works: Putting Vick's Vapor Rub (or a store brand) on your feet. It's what hospitals and nursing homes use for their long-term patients, whose feet get super dry from being in socks (or sheets) all day. Bonus: Something in it also prevents fungus growth. I use it once a week, but it's greasy and messy. That's why I usually put it on before bed, throw some ugly fluffy socks over it, and then go to sleep. Get up in the morning and wash my feet well. Done.
I'm hoping the Kerasil will be less fuss and muss.
So what does one do when you have clipped and cut the live skin for years, and it's now thick and hard?
ОтветитьI hate getting salon manicures because they cut the living skin. The only time I use nippers is for hangnails.
ОтветитьThank you for explaining the cuticle vs the skin. I was an extreme nail and cuticle biter and after watching this video and using these methods especially how to remove the cuticle instead of cutting the entire skin part that most nail technicians always do. I now have beautiful healthy nails. My skin around the nail bed is still inflamed from years of biting but it’s getting better and better
Thank you 🙏🏻 .
