Here is the rub, I like all humans, was born of my mother. However, growing up in a colony of the British empire, yet with the fortune of a religious tradition from Arabia but with English as my primary language, meant that I would always approach my understanding of the material world with a highly critical eye. The irony is that,..the Arabs armed not with swords but with the ability to have a muti_focused approach to knowledge, handed over the remnants[what was not destroyed by the Church to the West...and promptly went back to the days of ignorance. Yet,it was my teacher born in Israel, who gave me the key to use Socratic reasoning in rationalising my faith, and while I have just about no friends or family left who think I am somewhat sane, I am getting closer to finally understand me!
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьI’m learning about you Socrates!❤😊
Ответитьthis video looks amazing but i need to study for exams... im just the beginner so this 5 min video could help me in some basic lectures?
ОтветитьHe should have "known" nothing is absolute and always. Say you know nothing makes you childish. Too much humility a bad choice.
Ответитьlove this video so much!!
ОтветитьThe best knowledge in the world is not to know anything.
Ответить"Every answer humanity found simply lead to more questions"
-Cortana (I think)
I believe that he was given the choice to be exiled because of his high status and popularity but he chose to die in Athens and taking a stance on what he believed to be true.
ОтветитьThose who can answer the "why's" are often found as wise.
ОтветитьI wish the local gov. library page folks learned this during their orientation. Such biases, such crookedness.
You wanna know how they displayed books on two former Presidents today? A positive projection for one, and a totally negative and degrading book on display for the other. Since we, the people are the owners of the book, and their salaries too, some help from the citizen's side erased the Bias.
Yucky pseudo-Leftism.
The older l get the l realize how very little l'm cognizant of.
ОтветитьDon't forget that the jury size was a whopping 501! Meanwhile, Diogenes would go around being rude and vulgar as if that itself was his philosophy; Socrates might be declared an enemy of the state today too, ha.
ОтветитьGreat video despite the fact of being “Eurocentric “. When Rome fell the whole world did NOT go into darkness. Other civilizations were still developing their own systems of thought like Arab-Muslim civilization. They preserved the Greek philosophy after translating it into Arabic and added to it.
Do the names of Ibn Rushd ( Averroes) and Avicenna ring a bell ?
What is love ?
ОтветитьThat was great I'm shocked I'm really liked it and understood everything I have a new outlook on things
ОтветитьNulles in Verba : on the word of no man
ОтветитьYou mean when Alexander the Great raided the libraries of Egypt, yall magically had renaissance?
ОтветитьBased guy. Basically he said to not to blindly worship, trust any guy or some figure
ОтветитьHeres a thought of mine. Eveything thought and action should have an explanation and justification. If both cannot be provided then an idea or action is void.
ОтветитьAre there any TRUE thinkers here? It is IMPOSSIBLE for water to curve. Water ALWAYS seeks its level. Being a critical thinker means asking questions and what they have taught us are LIES. We've been deceived on MANY, MANY levels because no one thinks for themselves anymore. The previous thought mentioned is only the beginning of the deceptions. " ...I can only make them think." Socrates
ОтветитьBro idk if I’m ignorant ash but i never knew Plato was under Socrates then ari was under Plato for Alexander the Great to be the one of most important people ever………..bro that’s crazy influence can do
ОтветитьI have great respect for this man.
ОтветитьLost in translation.. Socrates said I will not say that I know something if I don't know it
ОтветитьWhy is this video in the first person
ОтветитьTo many answers abd not enough questions in this video.
ОтветитьAlmost everything you 'know' has been told to you by someone else, and then you believe it. Then you find it difficult to change how you think about something because you accepted it without fact. You simply belive it to be true. Belief requires no evidence.
Ответитьkasalanan mo lahat
ОтветитьHow would Socrates feel about censorship in modern academia, journalism, and social media ? These people believe their every edict is “ settled science “ and demand civilization wide submission. Are these people wise? Or perhaps they are like the politicians and philosophers that Socrates criticized in his time. They think they know. But do they?
ОтветитьBut if this graphic says about Socrates saying to the so-called wise people less bright it does feel a bit odd. If it was more compared to Platos and Socrates I don't really understand. Just by googling they were more about 'knowing you know nothing' and this is just the surface/motive/general or cognitive thought. This shows more about pure knowledge, inwards knowledge can be really valuable for one.
But if this is more compared to maybe the Greek mythology, I would understand it better. (With how Zeus has the say in it all). I am actually merrly questioning the video messaging, School of life actually has a great article about him! Without the 1st person storytelling, if you would rather.
Dear Socrates, you are not dead. I'm teaching my daughter your values, while I questioned, I hope she will question and pursue the 'Truth'. You continue to inspire the thinkers...so you are live and kicking!
ОтветитьWasn't Socrates a brilliant Brazilian footballer who smoked......
ОтветитьDamn, Im so high watching this
ОтветитьDon’t believe everything you think
ОтветитьAnd somehow, I still get emotional over the killing of a man thousands of years dead.
ОтветитьConventionaly leaving the islamic and arab world legacy in regards to preserving and building over the ancient greeks
Socrates was referred to as al mulaim, the teacher
What do you animate these with and how long does a normal video take you? I really enjoyed this!
Ответить🇬🇷😅
Ответить🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
ОтветитьThis should be required viewing in every school....but unfortunately those afraid of knowledge and thinking would see it as propaganda and condemn the one who suggested it.
ОтветитьPoison hemlock.... How rulers create martyrs
ОтветитьWhat a pile of bollocks. Socrates knew nothing, and I do mean nothing.
ОтветитьHe is not inventor but had huge impact.
ОтветитьHe had to choose betwene being bannished and drinking thé Poison.
ОтветитьThats what she said
Remember "you know nothing john snow"
True got fan will get it
I thought he was with his family when he died, not in jail. fact check anyone?
ОтветитьA man who asks a question is a fool for a minute. A man who does not ask is a fool for life
ОтветитьQuestions are the best answer
ОтветитьHey! Robot Banana. I absolutely love this video, would it be possible for me to add dutch subtitles in a way? :)
