The only thing that limits me is me being a kid and not having a disposable income. If and when I get a job, and I put my money into important stuff, I will unleash years worth of ideas like you won’t even believe it
ОтветитьOne of my favorite Lego cities is the one Afol tv made. Check his channel out, his city is crazy.
ОтветитьI agree about table vs shelf.... cities on table look amazing, but shelves present better for an office or a lego room.
I have my Steampunk city on the mantle of my unused chimney... using modifications from sets and Rebrickable MOCs... using inspiration from Internet. so much fun. 🙂
I had to take down my city to prepare for my move, but I've actually been working on a weird science-fiction city
ОтветитьI am shameless, o buy lepin Modular's instead of second market. I save a lot of money in exchange for my dignity
ОтветитьIt’s not feasible for most people to have a whole Lego city I personally put them on shelves like a mini city block and move them around from time to time.
ОтветитьI just want to be able to own a Lego city to impress a girl
ОтветитьI love Holly's accent!
Ответитьshe so bad
ОтветитьGreat city guide!
ОтветитьYou know you can just make custom Lego sets it’s not that hard
ОтветитьFunny and informative great lesson Prof Holly🤝
ОтветитьI’m making my own Lego City using mostly the 3 in 1 Creator sets that have buildings and businesses and apartments and a couple of the Lego City sets that I think fits what I want in my city. So far I have a Toy Shop, the Noodle Shop, and Pet Store and Cafe with the Lego City Camper and 3in 1 Creator Camper to have some vehicles.
ОтветитьI thought "crop top ok vapid" but then kept listening... sorry I judged so soon .
ОтветитьLast step should have been the first step ..buying sets does not count as building a city...should have called it "how to buy a Lego city"
ОтветитьI don't have room for a city I just have the space in front of the tv in my room. I have 6 mocs built right now. Three of them are on 16by32 baseplates. I have a farm on a red baseplate. A pink castle on a pink baseplate and a garage moc on a heavily tiled yellow baseplate. You can't even see the color of the yellow baseplate. I got those from china. My park moc and my bedroom moc are on 8by16 baseplates. I made a kitchen moc too that ones on a 16by16 baseplate. I have two vehicles a fire truck and a vet ambulance. I also have 4 motorcycles. two are Lego one is captain America's and the others a police one. The other two come from dollar tree. I keep 3 of the motorcycles in my garage moc. I would keep the fourth but the second red one from dollar tree doesn't have brakes. I had to add the brakes using pieces I already had.
ОтветитьI have both modular Marvel sets. Guess I have a Lego City now. Lol
ОтветитьI’m with you on the shelf. It looks better than having everything laid out.
ОтветитьSo yes, I watched and weeks later, rewatched this video. And I did chuckle when you mentioned rewatching! I enjoyed this class :-)
ОтветитьI am redoing my lego city and this was awesome
ОтветитьU used bob brickmans video from his city i know him
ОтветитьCame across this video while in the process of converting the Scooby Doo Mystery Mansion to be a modular. That's worth at least 3 cred points, right?
ОтветитьCan’t make a city, I’m broke
ОтветитьSomething I've found works for me is to stop caring so much about the official modulars and to just build my own from scratch using the bricks I have on hand. Oh sure, they never have the same level of exterior or interior detail, but when I make my own they tend to have a more rustic feel.
It's somewhat created an image in my head that my lego city is apparently a class system between the "designer" set districts (Creator Expert) and the "Classic Districts" (MOCs which due to simplicity and colour resemble those old-fashioned lego towns).
Actually, speaking of districts- think about districts! All the official creator expert modulars are residential or commercial (mostly commercial). Think about the industrial sector and make your own industrial modulars - factories, warehouses, and so on! Add little "breaks" between buildings and really play around with the core rules of what makes a modular. Add removeable walls, let them open up for easier access without sacrificing connectability - make suburban houses, even!
I want a city!!!!
ОтветитьCan you tell me how to build a house/area? I want to build a private villa over the water with island features. However I have not a clue where to start or what pieces I need to get the ball rolling.
ОтветитьI just buy the small City sets. Don't want too much water over my head.
ОтветитьEvery time I've already incorporated Holly's recommendation, I just hear Gina Cross saying "you are doing well" in my head. Sad to say though that I've had to pack up my lego city as of recent, so my favorite creations and touches are mostly gone now.
ОтветитьIf my teachers at school had been more like you, I would have paid a lot more attention, sat nearer the front of the classroom, and never bunked off. My Lego city is a follow-on from my sets from the 1980's, so whilst space is still an issue, the smaller scale sets do not cost as much in my modular-free urban landscape.
ОтветитьUnfortunately, I have very limited space, but I definitely agree that it does force me to be more creative and judicious about what models/MOCs to place in the City. I realise that I can't buy everything, so I try to make the best of what I can buy and position in the City (although that's partly why I'm not bothering with the Sanctum - although the exterior looks great, it doesn't feel as essential as other buildings are to a City).
ОтветитьI suffer from intense anxiety. Although I don't have much cash and can't compete with the best Lego Cities, working on my Lego City, or even daydreaming about the sets I'd like to add to it (and probably never will be able to afford), is actually one of my few escapes from anxiety. I'd recommend it to anyone here who has diagnosed anxiety and OCD as I do.
ОтветитьGreat video and great point about the customization. I just built my city and my favorite part is probably the little park I built from scratch.
ОтветитьDoes one modular set and two custom modulars count ms Holly?🤣
ОтветитьI built my Republic gunship and turbo tank by buying the pieces from bricklink, no shame here.
ОтветитьHilarious video! Great editing also!
ОтветитьI’m 19, and just started my Lego city for real a couple of months ago (I started working on it when I last moved seven years ago, but I didn’t have much disposable income), and it’s growing in such a fast pace that i’m auickly running out of space in my Lego room, so I’ve honestly been considering switching my bedroom and Lego room, since my bedroom is almost twice as large.
When I restarted the city in September I had the cafe corner, green grocer, town hall, a police station, a fire station, a hospital, a toy shop and the Ghostbusters HQ,
but now I’ve also got the monster fighters haunted house, the home alone house, the creator hillside house, the apple tree house, the palace cinema, the modular police station, the bookshop, assembly square and the sanctum sanctorum.
I started out using the 2021 road plates, but after my 11th pack I both realized that it was very expensive and that I didn’t like the look as much as the older road plates - so now I’ll have to get some of those as well. I get anywhere between 650 and 900 dollars a month from my job so I have to prioritize what I want to get every month, but i’m happy with how it’s going. I’m planning a big stop motion film project with my friends, so i’m building the city with the concept of that film in mind.
Lol step 2 😂
Ответить@hollyonfilm I really enjoyed that video 😁
ОтветитьBasically, be Jang
ОтветитьI really like these LEGO for Dummies videos 👍.
And now, in order to be original I'll have to avoid building a city on a shelf, desk or bookcase... Which leaves me with the floor! I'm pretty sure that's not something we'll see anywhere else 😼
I don't have a city, I have and endgame final battle MOC. Which is better?
ОтветитьI think the only way I could do a lego city is if I had a house with a seperate guest house. It's too much. I think 2 shelves is enough and just swap out what you're displaying as you like.
ОтветитьWer kommt such von Bob brickman
ОтветитьYou're videos are insighful and funny ,keep up the good work
ОтветитьThis came at a very oportune time. I'd like to build City 17 from the Half-Life franchise. I haven't seen many European lego cities, let alone dystopian ones.
Oh, and it's the opposite approach to lego Cities. Everyone wants their city looking alive. The one I want won't look that alive.
