I had a toy like this when I was a toddler, mom said I used to scream cuz I would get pissed off cuz I couldn’t get the ball out lol.

I had a ball in cage puzzle as a kid, and the only thing that worked to get one of the brass cage pins free was to stick in the freezer over night! Somehow it shrunk enough to let it free itself...was a pretty neat trick. But this is much better and more interactive!

Your use of the v-blocks with u-clamps put me in mind of a Blondihacks video from the last year or so talking about machine shop tools Quinn picked up early on but has found a lot less useful in practice. Your case is a pretty good example of where that feature works, though now I'm curious what sort of solution she might use to produce your design.
