"Don't we pay for the things we've done? " Some things are hard and painful, but to stick and keep turning around them doesn't make them right or easier.

Hard decisions can't be easy. To ask oneself whether things are right and good or bad and wrong must help.😢
Blessings.

Very enjoyable old film. well acted with great FRENCH/SPANIsH AMBIENCE.´.Errol flynn looks old and over weight here. The saddest cha racter was poor Tyrone Power(less). How terrible to be attractive and impotent from an early age.and having to live with it.

I’m sure there are plenty of comments - at least from those who have read the novel - saying that the film paled in comparison, and I suppose they’re right. But what if the film hadn’t been miscast so badly? Who made those decision? Ava Gardner and Juliette Gréco were perfect, but the male leads were all 20-25 yrs too old. And poor Tyrone Power … good as always, but too old for the part and would have looked 10yrs younger had the brylcream been removed from his hair.

This is a good film to depict how many American tourists are nasty, inconsiderate, loud, obnoxious buffoons---compared to decent people in most countries. We are an embarrassing lot of morons and half-wits, after all.

This is the movie “future” director Robert Evans talks about in his own movie “The Kid Stays in the picture” around 2008. I won’t spoil it for you talking about this movie and his relationship with it. He (Robert Evans) who eventually became the director at Paramount Studios hired by the ever flamboyant Charles Bluhdorn of Gulf and Western Industries when he bought the studio. This movie was a big part of his career and the two decades that followed this movie and because of it. Search out The Kid Stays In The Picture” it’s exciting narration about the back story of this great film. If you do please message me what you think about it. Best you movie lovers !! I love this one !!!

Hemingway's idealization of the eternal masculine is embodied in his writing about war, women, bullfighting & fishing. The machismo of the male species must always be tested under various dangerous conditions -- namely those mentioned above. A "real man" fights in war, fights for a woman's love, tests himself against a large animal or a cunning smaller version living beneath the ocean.
Ava Gardner was absolutely stunning; no wonder Sinatra wanted her to quit the business. She left him, yet he continued to support her til she died. She had an affair with the famous torero, El Doninguin. She was absolutely gorgeous in The Gambler with G. Peck. Tyrone Power, a Hollywood heartthrob, was classically handsome but plagued by genetic heart disease which killed him, his father, grandfather & great-grandfather. His father, Tyrone Power III died on the London stage. An extremely young Robert Evans, future Paramount chief executive, made a wise decision to quit acting & manage the studio. Gulf & Western CEO Charles Bludhorn thought the kid had administrative & creative talent like Barry Diller.
Hemingway wrote about the 4 things he knew best: war women, bullfighting & fishing. In peacetime, he was bored, fished alot & tried to recapture his early success. Writer's block prevented any more novels. His brilliant editor, Maxwell Perkins turned Hemingway into Hemingway who was a scribbler with horrendous grammar. Behind every great writer, there is an even greater editor is certainly true within Hemingway's context. I like Hemingway but prefer F.Scott Fitzgerald. By the way Eddie Albert outlived everybody dying at over age 100.
