ОтветитьVery sad! I've been told this story many times by my now deceased mother: when she was in her late teens or early 20s, she stood to inherit a long time family home when our little family had to move to CA from WA. When we were able to move back home, the house had been taken over by a family member illegally and that home had been chock full of family heirlooms. My poor mother never was allowed to gain back that home! :(( There is a thief in every single family! Know that and safeguard your property especially from bad family members!!
ОтветитьLove this story!!
ОтветитьSounds just like the stories of Boonsboro I heard when I was young.
Edit: until i was grown i didn't know that the name of the chest of drawers wasn't chesterdraws.😂😂

ОтветитьHey J.D., I was just wondering if you have any of your music on Apple Music or the like, i like it a lot 💯👍
ОтветитьJust like to add the story's are straight from grand folks memories. When no radio was on. PS the.mountian life was the same in the west. So relating comes natural. What did they call it a good yarn.
ОтветитьBid in some of these sales. Usually, people are somber. But kids always wake the dead.
ОтветитьWhat a sweet story
ОтветитьI have in my home a secretary that was in my grandmothers home. It will go to one of my wife children when I'm gone as I have no children of my own.
ОтветитьI am from the deep South. The stories of poverty and loss are the same. I have always felt a deep kindred spirit with the Appalachian people because our stories are much the same.
We made moonshine, suffered the atrocities inflicted by the Northerners, lived without benefit of medicine and doctors.
No one had a fat animal. So, all fat horses were considered to be pretty horses.
All animals, just like all people, had to work to eat. There was no supporting a horse or cow, even a dog, that didn't serve to help put food on the table.
It gives me a Vastly deeper appreciation for what most people in modern times would turn their noses up at.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
ОтветитьAwesome
ОтветитьI used to live in hillsville/sylvatus VA..... BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY quite literally
