Could it have been the slope on the grass the monitors loose track of the ball at a certain angle that’s why you are getting inconsistent distance
ОтветитьGreat video. Really appreciate the accuracy test conducted at the end.
ОтветитьInterestingly the 3 which read the lower numbers all seemed to agree with one another. If you remove the Bushnell as the control, then the lower reading numbers agreed 3 to 2 over the higher reading number monitors.
Ответитьgreat video, thanks.
ОтветитьFor the accuracy test are you using total distance for rhapsodo and full swing instead of carry bc those are massive differences btn monitors
ОтветитьExcellent review, thank you.
ОтветитьAll of those radars together probably messed with each other’s readings also you were way way right of way the swing caddie. You were right in front of the rapsodo. Not sure if that would make a difference to a good reading
ОтветитьCool the Full Swing (expensive) unit, Garmin R10, Rapsodo MLM, Bushnell Pro X3 Laser were the most accurate. Thanks for the review.
ОтветитьI went from the SC200 to the SC300 because the literature promised the SC300 would give you accurate distances on shots 50 years and above, which the SC200 would not. Unfortunately, I have found that statement to be incorrect as the frequency of "no data" shots and/or inaccurate distances convinced me that the SC300 did NOT accurately read shots 50 yds and above. What would be your recommended launch monitors you reviewed that gave the best shot data on shots in the 50 to 100 yard "scoring range".
Thank you.
Rapsodo MLM was insanely dumb making it only work with Apple products...talk about losing more than half the market segment. I was going to buy the Rapsodo MLM2Pro or whatever their new model is, which DOES support android, but aside from it costing $600 as of July 2023, its getting poor reviews on Amazon so I'm passing. Too bad because I REALL wanted to buy the Rapsodo MLM for my android phone...
ОтветитьI like your swing m8
ОтветитьWere all of them updated?
ОтветитьGreat comparison. Was waiting to see someone stand on the range at carry distance to actually see yardages rather then using other launch monitors.
ОтветитьNice video. I live in Southern California and mainly practice on an open range. I have an older SC 300 (not 300i) and I notice on sunny days or hot days, I am not sure the accuracy is there and also the device fails to pick up many shots. Do you think the Garmin Approach R10 would do better in sunny conditions?
ОтветитьPRGR is more for just getting your ball speed and swing speeds, not so much carry / total distance since it doesn't read spin overly accurately. Its good for being able to see how fast you're swinging, and how hard you're hitting the ball.
ОтветитьCan you operate all the launch monitors next to each other like that without some interference that would affect the readings?
From personal experience, I have had a hard time getting good readings with the R10 hitting into a net from 10’ behind. The carry distance based on ball speed and launch angle seem a bit low (10-15 yds off) compared to similar launch angles and ball speeds on the local retailer’s trackman.
Bought the PRGR this week. It'll be here tomorrow. Exited!!! I'm just using it for the basic's, that's all I need. Cool video, Thanks!
ОтветитьHi, great review thanks.
Sorry probably a silly question that I've missed the answer for, but does the likes of the Garmin still give you ball path and carry etc if you're using a golf net in front of you?
If yes, is there a minimum distance the net should be away to ensure it's valid?
When using a monitor at the range, there's 1 thing you might not be figuring into your numbers & that's the balls you're using. Range balls are made for durability & depending on your swing speed, you're getting inaccurate numbers. Range balls will fly 15-20% less than the ball you use to play & will change other numbers as well because the average player can't compress a hard ball nearly as much as a softer one so the spin rate will be off as well. No matter if you spend $100 or $50,000 on a monitor, your numbers will be off with range balls. I don't use a monitor but I know my numbers are off just because of the differences between my range numbers & those on the course. On the range I thought I was carrying a 7 iron 125-130 but when playing am carrying 135-140s. Quite a difference. Just keep this in mind for range sessions with your monitor.
ОтветитьGreat video!
I own the Garmin R10, and I love it, love it, LOVE IT.
I put it on range mode, take it with me on course when I play a quick nine holes on a piece of laminated sheet of paper, play two balls & get a great reading of my averages, with my proper golf balls.
Got my handicap down from 27 to 13.6 this year. Especially, with “gapping” my wedges, using 3 different swings, I can hit 12 different distances.
Why are you quoting prices in dollars ?
Ответитьhave the rapsodo and really don't like the fact that you have to keep your phone on the unit. after a few minutes, sunlight overheats the phone and screen dims. also, it misses a lot of shots for me. i find the swing caddie to be a lot more reliable
ОтветитьI have been using the SC300I for about 6 months. I beginner, so I have not been too concerned about the precision but more just relative feedback. I would thoroughly recommend this product. It fails to measure on only a very few shots, and 90% of those are bad strikes. The data collection is very good, so comparisons over time are useful. It has made the process of improving my swing a very positive experience.
ОтветитьYou may also get some wonky numbers with the PRGR positioned in between the others.
ОтветитьOn the all unit comparison, is your buddy standing at the finish yardage or is he standing at the carry distance?
ОтветитьI have hundreds of hours using the SC300i and it rarely picks up the driver regardless of where and how I set it up behind the ball.
That’s very disappointing.
Irons and fairway woods are usually always registered.
Solid and useful review, much appreciated.
ОтветитьWhat about a video of mevo plus vs bushnell launch pro vs skytrak
ОтветитьGarmin R10 = annual fees !!!
ОтветитьHave you tried Yupiteru GST-7? It’s only $150 but can track club speed, ball speed and carry distance.
ОтветитьR10 only needs 6’ behind the ball
ОтветитьA very good video! A great follow-on would be to do it indoors, too!
ОтветитьGood video, have to disagree though with the Rapsodo portion of the review. I found the app very clunky and counterintuitive. My phone would also often disconnect and I had to repair and restart the sessions multiple times. Worst part was trying to use this in the hot Florida sun my phone would overheat quite often so more suited for indoor use. The Garmin is great but requires a bit of work to get the set up right plus the extra fees. You should’ve included the Garmin G80 as well. Solid unit
Ответитьfun test to watch, but i've heard that these doppler radar units MIGHT interfere with each other if used simultaneously so close together. Also, you missed a really good one - the Ernest Sports ESB1. I believe the current price on it is about $500. I've had one of them for over a year now, and it's really impressive. And if you think it isn't measuring quite right, you can "tune" it a bit with altitude settings to get #'s that are more in line with reality. Plus, it gives you some sort of calculated spin # too.
ОтветитьI have the sc300 and compared to the trugolf e6 simulator it is way off. After 3 years of E6 winter training the sc300 has been shelved for ever.
ОтветитьGreat round-up, Joel!
I'm probably an anomaly among people looking at these devices, because what I really want is accurate (or close to accurate) club data rather than ball spin or speed numbers. Those things are important, of course, but for the things I'm working on I need to know club path and dynamic loft. As I understand it, the technology just isn't there yet to get those numbers in a small-form device that costs less than several thousand dollars. But it would be interesting to compare club data with the R10 against the Full Swing.
I’ve used the mevo for a year & it very rarely misses a shot, on top of which the video taken automatically is fantastic👍
ОтветитьNot ready to buy yet, but Rapsodo would be my pick from seeing this. I love the idea of having the video and shot tracer to match the stats. I assume it keeps all the video for later analysis? When ‘trying things’ this would be invaluable. The automated ‘club changer’ looked like a huge time saver too.
ОтветитьHow did they compare on the other swing stats? Swing speed, launch angle, club path, face to path etc?
ОтветитьThe take away from this ...these devices are not there yet I'd save my money tech will get better ...in years to come...I think golfers will find this not helpful numbers are off may not help you at all . ...the r10 seems best but I woukdnt spend on one yet
ОтветитьWhy we using dollars 🤣🤣🤷♂️🤷♂️ it's £s please
ОтветитьWhy are the prices in dollars??
ОтветитьIf you read the Mevo manual it states that you can't have anything between the unit and the ball. Having one of the monitors in front of it would impact the numbers.
ОтветитьHi. I was wondering if the Garmin and Rapsodo can be used at an indoor driving range or does it have to be outdoors? And also can they be used at night? Thanks a mill. Peter
ОтветитьDollars, $$$$$$$$$$$$$, you are British the last time I looked, who are you sucking up to? Just cancelled my subscription. GB Pounds ££££££££££, son
ОтветитьWere in England 🇬🇧 why are you quoting the price in dollars???
ОтветитьGood concise evaluation. Narrows the field down to two for me. Thanks very much.
ОтветитьRapsodo is good but not in my part of the world. Having to use your iPhone in the Phoenix, AZ, USA your phone won't last 15 min in the heat. This is why the Garmin R10 is head and shoulders above the Rapsodo.
ОтветитьInteresting test/comparison but did you laser carry distance ? That’s all that matters. Total distance depends on slope and ground conditions (wet/soft or dry runout etc. ) if you lasered your partner where the ball came to rest and not where it landed I don’t think the data is accurate.
ОтветитьBrilliant video! Really helpful! 👍🏽
