This is an original second model Derringer manufactured around 1888. It is rimfire, so I use reloadable cases that allow a .22 blank to be inserted. I have loaded the cases with about 10 grains of FFF Goex and a .395 round ball. I purchased 12 cases from this website:

The .22 (6 mm) blanks were ordered from Dixiegunworks:

To my knowledge, the diameter of the original cartridge measured .405. However, when I load a .400 round ball, I must be swelling the case mouths too much, for after, I can barely chamber them. .395 has been better, and a loose ball still stops at the end of the chamber to engage the rifling. If I load a .395 round ball with not too much pressure, I can get the ball to stick in the case and have have the cartridge easily chamber. Although I didn't show any loading in this teaser video, I had to make sure that the rim of the cartridge with the blank was loaded into the piece in such a way that the firing pin would hit it just right to make it go off.
Also, I would like to extend an extra thank you to my friend Joe, whose iPhone camera work has made all of these videos possible.
