I never knew he swung on 3-0 here. That was very uncommon back then. Is that why he got drilled in the neck his next at-bat? Lol.

ALL 5 of his century-mark homers were hit on the road. Remarkable.

I remember being a 13 year old watching this with my dad…he called Schmidt’s home run…than 2 months later passed away…miss you dad

I was 7 years old watching from the nosebleed seats in left/center field. The ball was so small and just got bigger and bigger… Greatest 3rd basemen to ever play the game.

36 years ago today. Hard to believe it's been so long.

I was 11 yrs old standing on our enclosed front porch in Delco, PA waiting for family members to arrive for an Easter/mom’s birthday party, watching the game on an old small portable tv when Schmidt hit his 500th.

The best 3B to ever play the game! And he was all ours!

One of my favorite calls ever. I am not a Phillies fan but I loved Harry Kalas as an announcer.

Grew up a Dodger fan who loved Michael Jack Schmidt.

Caught this as a 12 year-old boy in between fishing holes with my dad, and remember in his tiny Dodge Omni he said "Mark, turn that down!"

Easily the greatest third baseman of the modern era. Criminally underrated and underappreciated too. He is a legit all time great.

34 years ago today. I was switching between this game and bowling as a guy bowling a 300 game. I missed this live.

Phillies and the Pirates were big rivals in the 70s and 80s when they both had good teams and played in the same division (and both playing in the same state.) So it's really classy of the Pirates fans to give Schmidt a standing ovation after he just beat their team. Great baseball players like Mike Schmidt are awesome to watch, but great sportsmanship makes it even sweeter.

Hammerin Hank passing brought me here. Me and my grandfather watched the Phillies all the time when they won the World Series we were so excited. 2021 please be better than 2020

I was at that game. Had just returned from a 3 year tour with the Air Force in Germany. Bought tickets for this game hoping he wouldn't hit it the game before. It all worked out.
