Harry Kalas is such a terrific commentator. I miss him.
ОтветитьBest third basemen ever! What a call by the announcer!
ОтветитьNUFF SAID
ОтветитьI never knew he swung on 3-0 here. That was very uncommon back then. Is that why he got drilled in the neck his next at-bat? Lol.
ОтветитьALL 5 of his century-mark homers were hit on the road. Remarkable.
ОтветитьI remember being a 13 year old watching this with my dad…he called Schmidt’s home run…than 2 months later passed away…miss you dad
ОтветитьHarry, Whitey and Michael Jack!!!
ОтветитьAs a kid in Philly in the 80s, this was "THE GUY"
ОтветитьI was 7 years old watching from the nosebleed seats in left/center field. The ball was so small and just got bigger and bigger… Greatest 3rd basemen to ever play the game.
ОтветитьI miss the Pirates being in the same division.
ОтветитьWhen God made a ball player he made Mike Schmidt…
Ответить36 years ago today. Hard to believe it's been so long.
ОтветитьI was 11 yrs old standing on our enclosed front porch in Delco, PA waiting for family members to arrive for an Easter/mom’s birthday party, watching the game on an old small portable tv when Schmidt hit his 500th.
ОтветитьThe best 3B to ever play the game! And he was all ours!
ОтветитьOne of my favorite calls ever. I am not a Phillies fan but I loved Harry Kalas as an announcer.
ОтветитьHe definitely had a pop.
ОтветитьI may only be 28 but, Mike Schmidt's 500th & Harry Kalas on the call is simply the greatest could'nt ask for anything better 2 Philly LEGENDS.
ОтветитьRest easy Harry and Whitey, we miss you!
ОтветитьHe was steroids
ОтветитьI am just another person in billions like you, I am and forever will be as significant in this universe as all the infinite occurrences and places in time that will never happen or exist. However I know at the very least without any question or doubt in my heart, soul, my being…I love and miss Harry Kalas. 😢
ОтветитьIt's always good for the heart to hear Harry Kalas and Whitey. Philadelphia treasures!
ОтветитьSchmidt led the league in HRs 8 seasons! No player did it more save one, Babe Ruth, 12.
ОтветитьTwo voices that bring back such great memories, Harry and Ritchie. Miss you guys.👍
ОтветитьI’m a Mets fan and have to admit Harry Kalas was great!
ОтветитьBest home run call of all time. There is no argument here.
ОтветитьNever Gets Old!
ОтветитьWhat a good freekin call. I've seen it thousands of times and I appreciate more every time. And I'm a Met Fan.
ОтветитьHr.
ОтветитьGrew up a Dodger fan who loved Michael Jack Schmidt.
ОтветитьCaught this as a 12 year-old boy in between fishing holes with my dad, and remember in his tiny Dodge Omni he said "Mark, turn that down!"
ОтветитьI'm here for the 35th anniversary 😀😀😀😀 !
Ответить35 years ago today! Still remember listening it to it live on the radio like it was yesterday.
ОтветитьI talked my dad into going to this game, I told him Mike Schmidt was hitting 500 today...he took a while, but got it done. Still have our tickets.
ОтветитьEasily the greatest third baseman of the modern era. Criminally underrated and underappreciated too. He is a legit all time great.
ОтветитьI come here to hear Harry Kalas. I’m not from Philly or a Phillies fan. Just the voice.
ОтветитьClassic and yet Like so many other calls by Kalas on a typical Mike Schmidt home run- A line drive that just keeps climbing and going
ОтветитьAlot of class from the Pittsburgh fans. Kudos!
ОтветитьI grew up a Cards fan in the '80s but Schmidt was one player I loved. The ultimate all-around gamer.
ОтветитьBut he called Joey Bats disrespect ok lol
ОтветитьHe had 700 in him.. retired too early ♥️💯
Ответить34 years ago today. I was switching between this game and bowling as a guy bowling a 300 game. I missed this live.
ОтветитьPhillies and the Pirates were big rivals in the 70s and 80s when they both had good teams and played in the same division (and both playing in the same state.) So it's really classy of the Pirates fans to give Schmidt a standing ovation after he just beat their team. Great baseball players like Mike Schmidt are awesome to watch, but great sportsmanship makes it even sweeter.
ОтветитьHammerin Hank passing brought me here. Me and my grandfather watched the Phillies all the time when they won the World Series we were so excited. 2021 please be better than 2020
Ответитьthe sporting news named him as the MLB player of the 1980s
ОтветитьOne of the best calls in baseball right up there with the Robbie Thompson home run and that announcer saying “ giants win the pennant, the giants win the pennant “....
ОтветитьWhy is there no fnaf comments
ОтветитьIf u don't get chills hearing Harry call this homer, you ARE NOT a Philadelphian 💯💯💯
Ответитьthat HR give the phillies a lead against the bucs and there it will stick
ОтветитьI was at that game. Had just returned from a 3 year tour with the Air Force in Germany. Bought tickets for this game hoping he wouldn't hit it the game before. It all worked out.
