Need a outdoor camera that’s wired and acts as a flood light

I am making a cat shelter tomorrow and i am scratching my head for the type of camera to buy, i need one with pan and tilt with night vision and wifi that i can link to my desktop computer also i would like to not be obligated to change battery on the camera to not disturb my little feral buddies, any suggestion? Oh and i don't want subscription since i only want to see the cats on my desktop and not record the footage.

Good start but I’m looking for a unit with a rock solid mount, powers off of mains (not solely battery) and offers onboard recording in case of wifi disruption.

Agreed SimpliSafe system is easy to install. It's a good monitoring system but for the poor quality of their video doorbell camera from internet connectivity standpoint.

I did purchase it along with the Video Doorbell Camera but the camera goes offline (no live stream) with a message 'Disconnected from the internet' every 2-3 minutes. SimpliSafe attributed it to my poor Wi-Fi network when in fact I have 5 GHz-600 MBS speed bandwidth along with six Google Nest Wi-Fi routers.

When I complained to SimpliSafe, they asked me to the split the Wi-Fi network into 2.4ghz and 5ghz since SimpliSafe doorbell camera works only with 2.4ghz bandwith (this they do NOT say anywhere). I did the split and connected the SimpliSafe doorbell camera to 2.4ghz Wi-Fi network but in vain. The camera went offline as ever before. They sent me a replacement camera which too had the same 'going offline every 2-3 minutes' issue.

I repeatedly called SimpliSafe and asked for a good solution. They had the cheek to say I should move my internet router (which is about 10 feet away from the doorbell camera) closer to the doorbell camera. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back and I canceled my subscription service. While the rest of the SimpliSafe system works, the doorbell camera does not since it's outdated. Today's doorbell cameras support dual bandwith (2.4ghz and 5ghz) and SimpliSafe lags behind, thanks to their outdated technology.

I am currently using the SimpliSafe doorbell camera without the video recording feature from the web interface (smart app disabled due to my monthly subscription cancelation) though the the camera goes offline every 2-3 minutes but then I am not paying $27.99 for the poor quality of the camera. I can't return the equipment since I am past the product return window.

Too bad it doesn’t work for my original system. Kinda bummed about that.

Does it have a built-in hard drive to record? How far does the WiFi signal reach?

What stops someone from stealing the camera?

I sent the outdoor cam and solar panel back to SimpliSafe after failure to function and multiple tech service calls. Ordered a system from another company. SimpliSafe has failed in their camera roll out, IMO.

Installed 3 outdoor cameras today. In testing, received zero notifications of any motion detected on any camera. Tried all different settings, same result, zero notifications. Cameras are detecting motion as evidenced in the event logs but again, zero notifications. Same story with the doorbell cam. Gave up on tech support being on hold. Will try support again tomorrow. I really want this system to work. Will post resolution.

Why would anyone get a "Security" Camera that is NOT hard wired inside their house?

THE JAMMING device was easily able to disconnect the camera again. BOTH my security cameras outdoors that use internet, two different company brands, were cut off and did not come back on again until the next morning when checked. There is no way they would just disconnect at the exact same time and not reconnect. A camera may lose signal temporarily if there is weak signal issue.

SO THEN again no notifications whatsoever. THEN evidence arose the person who is recorded telling me they could go into a specific time and see what the wifi signal is for that moment is when other tech support said that is not possible to say what wifi signal is for specific time. WAS told by one tech support ( AGAIN RECORDED CALLS) and said that IF you have a video that lost recording due to internet issues WITH the camera they could look at the time stamp of that video and see what wifi signal was. THEN another tech support said that was not true. SO many different stories and one staff contradicting the other staff. I SPENT HOURS on the phone, ALL recorded, going through supervisors and one tech support from another telling them hey this tech support said this and is recorded saying such and such.

pt 6 see below comments for pts 1 to5 In comparison to other outdoor cameras, well it is hardy equipment, in that it can be used outdoors in the elements though not in severe cold climates. SO you have to pay for security but cannot use it in cold months if you live in a state where temps get very cold. Picture clarity is ok.

I have actually used and indoor camera for outdoor camera by protecting it from the elements, and the indoor got better picture quality, better zoom ability and better sensor to pick up. THE SIMPLISAFE outdoor camera seems to only pick up if more in center of the motion sensor. The so called wide view is not picking up motion in a wide view only in center of being right direct line of it. I wont name the other brands of cameras I have used but their sensors were much better and not even half the money this company charges.

IT WAS pointless to pay 25 bucks a month when not once did I get a notification of motion in away mode. MAYBE you will not have that experience, but I sure hope people test their products put in away mode and cause activity see if you get a notification. I sure never got a single one. REPEATED calls led me to no resolution. YOU CALL and wait for 45 minutes or longer too!

pt 5 see below for comments pts 1 to 4 BEST BET is to go to old school use CCTV and be knowledgeable on how to protect it. HAVE BACK UP security such as cell tower deer cameras but they can be hacked too so sd card evidence is about all you will have. MAKE SURE they are hidden as flashlights can easily thwart them too.

A company lying telling people it is hackproof and can thwart jammers will leave you your family and least important to your family's safety, is your property at risk.

BE AWARE of jamming devices because very few media outlets report the rising problem with them. LOOK at the companies giving raving reviews of this company.

IF ANYONE WANTS the link to the company who will sell you a device that can detect and even find jammers, or the device that you can install with your security company that will set off alarm if a jammer comes near, let me know.

PEOPLE whatever country you are in rise up and demand your government give access to equipment that detects jammers or at the least make security companies give warning with their products that it can NOT thwart jammers because it is FRAUD to say it can. OUT RIGHT FRAUD,

The only helpful thing I got was one supervisor since I did NOT get a notification my camera was disconnected from the WIFI during a security breach, did email me the event so I could document it.

USING internet fed security is dangerous. ESPECIALLY wifi fed. SOMEONE can either cut your internet box which is usually outside the home, or use jamming devices which no equipment is sold in America to detect or give warning of such interference. DO NOT LET any company lie to you and tell you it can thwart jamming or is hack proof.

The little piece of plastic that screws into the house and limply attaches to the back of the magnet is TERRIBLE! There's no positive lock, it doesn't thread on, it is just a cheap and poor fitting piece of plastic cap with three 1/4" tabs on it. Mine wobbles all over and will fall off if a bird lands on it or the wind blows too hard. The magnet is plenty strong, but that only maters if it can be secured to the house. However, there is a 1/4-20 thread on the bottom of the camera, so you can perma-mount this using any standard security-camera bracket or camera equipment, or just bend a piece of aluminum 90 degrees and buy a 1/4-20 x 1/4" stainless screw. The magnet idea is really good, but the little pos plastic cap is jaw dropingly bad. Would be nice to see a better seal on the battery housing as well, the o-ring is super thin and the USB cap does not look weather safe. Notice the camera is not IP65 or IP-anything certified at all (water/dust resistance). This is not acceptable level stuff here. Especially at this price. I'm very disappointed. I will be returning mine. It's bad enough that I wonder if this product, that was so badly needed, will hurt their business.

Why magnetic mount though? Can snatch it and run. Then do a full police report for maybe some random teenager who did it for giggles for a replacement?

Can you get additional batteries, so when one needs recharging you can swap over to the backup battery?
Otherwise there’s a potential 5 hour window of downtime whist it recharges.

Also when will the video doorbell be coming to the UK???
