My pitch: Nintendo should hire people like this to keep making games for its older consoles. Now obviously they'd normally release as digital downloads but they could sell limited edition physical cartridges just to prove that they really are functional games for those consoles.
ОтветитьIncredible 🤩😧
Ответить"the enemy of art is a lack of limitations"
Ответитьwitchcraft !
sorcery and witchcraft i tells ya !
how many virgin sacrifices did you make to bring such unnatural forces into existence??
game optimization? never heard of it.
if modern game devs dont do this "optimization" then im sure its just like hyperbole and more kickstarter vaporware! people didnt have better work ethic and clever success back when they had less options. surely all current game devs aren't just spoiled by copy paste assets and idiot-proof pre-fab habits
n64 was an amazing Silicon Graphics machine just had terrible terrible CPU/RAM ratio and was a general mess for developers
Ответитьwow, this is incredibly impressive ! Dude wanted a new PC but got a Nintendo 64 but he still wanted to play portal soooo badly.
Ответитьportals gonna be the new doom, can it play it?
ОтветитьN64 came out 11 years before Portal, not 10.
Ответитьis this an official port or a fan port
ОтветитьSo.... How long until HL2 on 64
ОтветитьMedia pila facu Peralta, deja de robar tanto
ОтветитьIs the game port completed from start to finish?
ОтветитьWhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat…?!
ОтветитьC'mon James, we know you want to see if Crysis runs on the N64
ОтветитьValve shoud hire this guy to optimise cs2 wow
ОтветитьExtremely impressive but I'd rather have seen it on a good vintage platform, not the N64.
Think a PII with Voodoo2 could do it? That would be cool.
Nice. I'd like to see portal run on the OG Xbox someday
ОтветитьThis is the coolest thing I've seen in so long!!!! Thank you for sharing this discovery!!
ОтветитьI need to get this so my 3 year old son grows up thinking portal came out on it lol
ОтветитьHearing that the N64 released only 10 years before Portal almost made me turn into dust and blow away in the wind. I'm old as hell.
ОтветитьThis is really freaking cool, doesn't even look like much of a demake. This looks closer to a PS2 game to me
ОтветитьAmazing!
Are all the levels/puzzles the same as in the Valve-published game?
how come not a single developer studio back in the day was able to make anything look as good on the same hardware? have people just developed more efficient algorithms or memory management since the late 90s/early 00s ?
Ответитьbanger
ОтветитьGta vice city possible to port ?! 😂 it’s just matter of time
ОтветитьBeen watching the development of this. Also been watching Kaze optimizing Mario 64.
ОтветитьThis suggests that porting half-life to the N64 is possible
ОтветитьCan’t wait for a tf2 64 port
ОтветитьThe concept of portals have been around since the very beginning of 3D graphics, it's almost a natural progression in experimentation. Still wild to see on the N64 though!
ОтветитьI kind of wish I got an abernic instead of my trimui just for this.
ОтветитьDoes this mean you could then play the portal demake as an emulation rom in a PSP N64 emulator, for example?
Ответитьit's not a port tho.
it's a remake
I can't believe he didn't make a custom cart and just used an Everdrive. Making a custom cart is like a 2 out of 10 on the difficulty scale compared to making Portal 64.
Ответитьbut why, looks like trash and perf is prob garbage
Ответитьsomeone port half life 1 to 64 please XD
ОтветитьNow you're playing with power: Portal Power
ОтветитьWhat I would love to see is Half-Life 1 on the N64! That would be awesome!
Ответитьpoural gon
ОтветитьThe audio is the biggest can't believe for me. Do they have an aux audio chip in the ever drive cartridge that makes it possible?
ОтветитьNow lets see Half Life running on there?
ОтветитьBoomers will definitly play this
ОтветитьNow we need Half-Life 3
ОтветитьAnytime I see your videos I click right away. You have some great content and I appreciate what you do.
ОтветитьI wish people just still made original games for old consoles. With processing and storage largely being unlimited today, why not just make games on the old hardware for the aesthetics. The platforms are not nearly drained of potential IMO.
ОтветитьHopefully Half Life 2 can get the same treatment, that would be insane. and Team Fortress 2/Left 4 Dead.
ОтветитьI will forever and always argue that optimization is the number one most impressive thing a video game developer can do. Who gives a shit how realistic your game looks if it can only run properly on a government supercomputer?
