While this story is cute, how would the villagers know that they were Gods? It's not their fault they didn't want two shady stangers in their house
ОтветитьZues was the first kindness influencer
ОтветитьAfter watching this video, I got a chance to see this in a painting. It was amazing how I was able to remember it so quickly! But still.... I can't help think the gods of Olympus didn't know the term Stranger Danger...
ОтветитьAW THIS WAS SO HEARTWARMING
Ответить😊❤
ОтветитьWhy did this story go from "You should be kind to strangers with seemingly nothing, they might be the divine in disguise." to " How the Britishers colonized the world"?
ОтветитьSo the same guy cheating on his wife like it's Tuesday and condoning kidnapping kills off an entire village for not letting two very suspicious men into their household?
my hero
ez riddle lowkey
ОтветитьThank you for telling me this amazing story
ОтветитьIn the end, they just prroved the villagers right, they were dangerous and murderous...
ОтветитьA lot of mythological stories I hear because I either had kid-friendly versions to read or because I watch Overly Sarcastic Productions. This was the first one I originally heard about in one of my Bible college classes, because there’s a point in Acts where Paul and Banarbas are assumed to be Zeus and Hermes, and my prof wanted to explain exactly why this was such a big deal for the people trying to worship the two. I can’t believe I hadn’t heard this myth earlier, its message is pretty wholesome!
ОтветитьThe theme of Friendship is significant. Through the pleasures and pains in their lifetime together, they learned to share [give & receive], they're caring, demonstrated equality, and their relationship of friendship created trustworthiness in their bond. Love, oftentimes, Lives on ~ In the beginning and in The End.
ОтветитьOh sure. If it's the mortals who refuse to help, they deserve divine punishment. But if it's the gods, it's a-okay.
ОтветитьMe who didn't read the title and was waiting for Zeus to ask if they have green eyes
ОтветитьIf I was a girl I would surely pass, and Hera would be angry
ОтветитьI have long loved this myth. One of the great lies of "... and they lived happily ever after..." is that one of them always is going to die first and leave the other alone for a time. Here, they get to live a long life and peacefully pass on together. THAT is a happy ending.
ОтветитьThe old testament draws much of its inspiration from other cultures including the Sumer, the Babylonians, Egyptians, and the Greeks. This story almost certainly was the inspiration for Soddom and Gamorrah.
ОтветитьThat sounds like a horror story. Imagine if everyone you know was killed
Ответитьthis is such a wholesome story, apart from the fact that a village of people had drowned. yea very wholesome indeed
ОтветитьI did not expect to cry with this video yet here I am
ОтветитьNext time i see someone breaking into my house I'll show them where the jewellery is
ОтветитьI think part of passing Zeus's test is to be able to spell its possessive properly.
ОтветитьNoted. Next time two suspicious strangers are knocking on my door, I'd open it for them and serve them like gods.
ОтветитьI thought it was another riddle 😅
Ответитьso nice
ОтветитьI don't know, knowing Zeuses other stories there's a solid chance that if a hot girl opened the door he would have taken her, either willingly or by force, and the moral of the story would have been different,
You really shouldn't look to Greek gods for moral guidance
The Greek Gods were brutal ... not getting punished has already been seen as a reward. Greek Gods were neither infallible, nor omniscient, nor immortal (they did not age, but they could be killed). That's why the couple also didn't dare to ask for too much, since that could have been seen as greed and pissed off the Gods again. Asking to care for the temple was a clever move, how could they neglect such a plea? And asking to die together was then the cherry on top the Gods just couldn't refuse either.
ОтветитьAs the universe still in diapers understood that man can not disobey the ten commandments no matter who they are until they understand this they receive judgment until they no longer sin. God's way of molding everyone into perfection. Prometheus can't die he took all the hits whilst everyone was sewing seed. It could have only been Prometheus because nothing effects him. The god that dies every night. God sees the infinite we see the finite.
ОтветитьTbh, based on MOST stories of Zeus i assumed it was " Pulse - Check, Hole - Check, ok let's do this"
ОтветитьAnd that's why you shouldn't use godly powers to drink more than you can handle.
ОтветитьSuch a beautiful story ❤❤❤
ОтветитьThe duck reappeared in the flood giving continuity, I liked that.
ОтветитьAt least for once, the story isn't about zeus that can't hold his little johnny to stay in his pants
ОтветитьJust imagine that one greek dude who came across a weird looking tree and going "Hmmm, yeah that def was an old couple that was nice to Zeus."
ОтветитьKnew the story already, and honestly I'm not sure.
I mean, there were rules which obligated you to show hospitality.
So maybe I would invite them.
But maybe I would also just lead them to the next inn, where they could rest.
Or the third option, I would wake up my family, then talk a lot with the strangers to find out der intentions and if I'm sure they have no bad intentions THEN I would look to a place where they could sleep.
Bruh either zapped you or smashed you 😅
Ответить"Gods" took everything away from them and still asked if they need something else. No my Gods that's enough. 🤪🤣
Ответитьwould zeus pass my test
ОтветитьThe concept of hospitality was massively important in the ancient world. Yes, some people were bandits - but bandits aren't usually the ones travelling far and wide and into villages. Brigands populated the roads and big cities - because that way they escaped repercussions.
Travellers bring news. Commerce. And they depend on the kindness of strangers when moving about is matter of weeks or months rather than our half a day intercontinental flights. They are needed for society to function, and they depend on society to function. So to handle this mutualism the cultures place a heavy emphasis on the rules of hospitality, for both sides.
Got it, so the lesson is; if you're kind, your friends will be killed, your house will effectively be stolen and repurposed and you'll have to be the caretaker for what was your old house, and then youll be turned into a tree.
ОтветитьSisyphus was not punished by Zeus. It was Hades who condemned him to roll that boulder up a steep hill endlessly (I forgot what Sisyphus did tho).
ОтветитьКак всегда, отличная работа
ОтветитьI was feeling a little bit strange: greek mythology without death? Probably Zeus is going to seduc.... oh wait... there's a flood. Ok, that's more like it
Ответить. . . How was this a test?
ОтветитьIt's just so ridiculous to hear those English names. Doesn't sound like the original at all.
ОтветитьThe answer is: Zeus! Your son has returned! I BRING THE DESTRUCTION OF OLYMPUS!
Ответитьspread legs
“Did I pass?”
This is a horror story. Gods come to a town as creepy weirdos and, obviously, nobody’s good mess around with them. They go to a poor couple and eat their last supplies. Then they destroy their social circle and steal their house and make it into a temple, which the couple has to take care of otherwise they’re homeless. Their last wish is a horrifying slow death by having vines grow out of your insides. Wtf is happening bruh?
ОтветитьWell, the Greek gods are basically just D. heads
