To those of you who don't use CC, you're missing out! Thanks Jeff for going the extra mile and the laughs
ОтветитьCan you boot the RPI from an NVMe adapter card?
ОтветитьRaspberry Pi creates a cheap product moat people can afford. Creates an entire new industry of business lol
ОтветитьAruba switch! Nice! If you get a chance, try the CX line. Do you have any videos talking about the other features, such as Internet monitoring, that you're running on your pihole? I recently started using pihole for DNS ( have moved some network services such as DNS and DHCP off a vmware server onto separate appliances for better fault tolerance. Not all eggs in one basket) and I'm curious what else I could be doing with it. I also run it from an SSD. Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьWhat's the link for the screwdriver? i like it.
ОтветитьI think a small 1U server running Docker would be much cooler
ОтветитьUsing PoE right in the rack is an unholy thing to do.
Ответитьlol I just noticed the Storinator on your Raspberry Pi rack... my guy doesn't mess around!
ОтветитьI got HOTO Electric Screwdriver and order extended bits and have never looked back.
ОтветитьEs geht noch besser ..
ОтветитьWhy not just pick one bigger server? What are the advantages of such a cluster?
ОтветитьHello Jeff, Great video. You inspired me to acquire one. Using for my Ham Radio hobby. Also will try pi-hole when I get everything working the way it should. I am almost there but trying to GET the SSD drive to boot up has ben challenging,. I have tried several different pi 4b boards, a Samsung SSD and a Kingston. I tried my images as even downloaded a fresh image. I am getting this error: controller never released inhibit bit. Any thoughts would be appreciated. After several days of trying various things I am now just spinning my wheels. Thanks Dave
ОтветитьCan these be used with SSD drives. NVME M.2 drives? I have several PI's that use anArgon case with and NVME drive and would love to mount rack them.
Ответитьhow much does it all cost
ОтветитьGood to know even Jeff struggles with Kubernetes networking. I have gone back to Docker for anything that needs wife-approval factor because it just works.
ОтветитьOk ok ok
ОтветитьDoes somebody know if the SATA shield is powered just from the USB port of over the GPIO leads as well? I have some SSDs connected to my raspberries and some disks have issues with the max current limit of 1.2A of the PI and I need a separat power source for the SSD. Would be great uctronics solved this issue with this rack.
ОтветитьThe biggest concern would be cooling. Those rpi4 run super hot most of the time.
Ответитьreally cool. the biggest problem for me is that Pi is still out of stock in my country😢
Ответить+1 on a revision with 40mm fan holes/mounts
ОтветитьThis video is great……except for the fact that you are on your knees the whole time. As a guy who just had both knees replaced……don’t beat your patella’s like that!!!! Your body network will love you more.
ОтветитьIt's just a shame that raspberry pi's are impossible to buy now and I would do this project in a flash. Thanks Jeff: awesome setup.
ОтветитьYou used a Pi hat for power. However, you also used some off sets that are not mentioned anywhere. What exactly did you use? Link?
ОтветитьIt's too bad you can't eliminate the POE HATs altogether and have a power backplane.
ОтветитьI don't want an EXPENSIVE ARM machine, I want a CHEAP ARM machine. Give me a $15 weak ARM device please, something I won't mind turning into a micro-server and building voice commanded self closing curtains.
ОтветитьTake all my money!!
Ответитьamazon reviews in the DE Region say it doesn't fit into a 19" Rack. They also say the build quality is very poor. Just saying. Can anyone confirm this?
ОтветитьRazzle Dazzle
Ответитьlol that linus screwdriver is a foking joke! who with respect for himself and an IQ above 75 would use such a clumsy tool for anything related to a pc? personally i use a vessel 220 p1 150 ball grip
linus is nothing but a salesperson
I ended up getting one of these for Christmas. So far I am really liking it. Did you ever end up writing that script to automate the screen setup? If so, would you mind sharing it to the community? Thanks for all the content!
ОтветитьJeff hates that screwdriver.
Ответитьansible in current year is lol bro
ОтветитьJeff, Great Video, some mentioned that they always learn something watching your videos. I have a low budget home lab, I have a UCTronics rack that does now have an OLED display and power button, but I have been purchasing my own OLED displays and have some momentary switches. I been watching a video from Michael Klements, and my OLEDs are working pretty well. I have ran into an issue were I also want to add the power switch. My problem is that the OLED and switch both need access to pin 3 and 5, Do you know or can you guide me to a document that would allow me to use the switch on different ports? Thank you and keep up the good work with your videos.
ОтветитьI’ve been consuming all these Pi videos to prepare for when they ever go back in stock
ОтветитьWhy using an usb adapter on the front to connect the ssd to the pi when you've already have the micro-sd rebbon adapter connected internally ?
ОтветитьGreat video, hows the POE on the new UCTRONIC 1U enclosure? The older version always has undervoltage errors.
I have 4x RPI4 8GB running proxmox in a cluster linked to my TrueNAS and Synology as datastores with HA. Looking in to upgrading the enclosure.
You can 3D print some little covers for the USB connectors so there not open. seen them on another video
ОтветитьWhat Mac Laptop is that?
ОтветитьWow. That is really awesome! It also seems like a lot of fun to have something like this in your cluster. Lots of tinkering and all the technology to learn from. I have quite some Pi's lying around, might consider getting an enclosure like that in the future.
ОтветитьHave you done any testing on pi stability at various ambient temperatures? I'm seeing stability issues in a pi that is an outdoor enclosure in 25C temps.
ОтветитьI screwed up when I installed my NAS the first time, I installed it to an SD card instead of the SSD, So far my NAS has been running about twice as long as the SD card vs. SSD. You never want to READ and WRITE a lot of stuff on the SD card.
ОтветитьFinally! Some more regular Raspberry Pi model videos! As much as I also like the compute module videos, I have yet to get one, and all I have currently are regular Pi models to use.
ОтветитьSo holy crap. I've been trying to set up a single headless pi today to play audio. What a nightmare. What an unbelievable nightmare. What the hell happened!?
ОтветитьI pulled the trigger and bought the rack mount. Can’t wait to get it setup!
