Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is far superior. Stick with that and max 5,000 miles oil change intervals or less.

If you want to clean the left over deposits use BG EPR. It’s amazing how fresh oil looks after running it for 20 mins w EPR. Ever since I used EPR in my sons 2005 Corolla w 190K miles, the oil is super clean even after running the oil for 3 months.

The reason why is because the Penzoil has more deterrents in it.

Full synthetic does not mean 100 % synthetic.
You need an oil that is 100% synthetic.
There's only a few 100% synthetic oils out there.
Get ready to pay big.
I'm currently running Red line 100% and its over 30 dollars a litre here in Canada.
Will be switching to Pennzoil Ultra for my 5.0 Mustang.

It is way better oil, Pennzoil. The reason you see the oil darker is because it has more detergents, is cleaning what the motorcraft oil is leaving behind.
Your eyes are deceiving you.
Is money is a factor, stay with motorcraft.

Any premium oil changed every 5000 mile's will work fine.
That said, PUP has good volatility ratings which keep valve clogging vapors low.
Also great cold weather properties.
For the last word, send a sample to Blackstone Labs, that will tell you the story on wear and viscosity and additive breakdown.
I have already done this and all I use is PUP.
That said, the dufference was not night and day, but after 50,000 miles, my valve train shines like a new dime, and the car runs more smoothly and more quietly with the PUP.

I've been using Penzoil Ultra with Fram Ultra filter every 10,000 miles for the last 5 years. Penzoil Ultra is the BEST oil on the market in my opinion. NO problems at all. The key is you MUST use a great synthetic oil filter and not a plain jane filter like you do. No need to change your oil before 10,000 unless you have a turbo! The darkness of oil dose not mean it's time to change your oil.

A blend is just that, and who knows how much of it is actually synthetic. Any newer car should have full synthetic oil. It’s just for ford to save money. Especially for all their turbo charged engines. No way I’d put a blend in it. And, like many said, the ultra platinum is one of the best oils you can buy and was cleaning all the crap left behind by the blended oil.

You’ll be more than just fine with the Motorcraft synthetic blend. The key is to change your oil regularly.

Full synthetic oil is always going to be better I think over a semi-synthetic... I use Mobil 1, it got a 2003 chevy tahoe past 320,000 miles original engine! Changed Mobil 1 synthetic every 5,000 miles or less...

The Pennzoil platinum, ultra platinum and Quaker State full synthetic use the Gas to liquid oils in the synthetics. It a class 3+ oil. It’s just under a PAO like Amsoil Signature and above class 3 oils. The Pennzoil is far better and like everyone is saying is that the Pennzoil is cleaning your engine.

Darker color means it's actually cleaning better. The clearer the oil is, the worse it is cleaning. Also, the Ultra Platinum will perform better in addition to cleaning better. Watch Project Farm's video, he did a very comprehensive comparison between many top oils and Ultra Platinum came in a close 2nd behind a much more expensive Amsoil.

PUP is a better, and cleaner oil, but oil darkens because it's cleaning. What happens with Conventional oil it cooks much faster, and darkens even more. The reason you see dark, and amber is because Motorcraft is a blend, but trust me, PUP is a much better oil. It can handle heat and wear better, and cleans more.

So the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum where it shines is the type of Molly that used its in Infinium or trinuclear Molly

And the oxidative properties is much more protective with ultra Platinum versus Motorcraft synthetic blend

The oxidative properties of ultra platinum or close to 11 where the properties of Motorcraft synthetic blend is like not even 3

Also the quality of the oil from Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is much better than the synthetic blend that comes from Motorcraft it's just a cheaper bass oil that is barely put together with any kind of quality just enough to meet manufacturers requirements

Of course you don't have to listen to anything that I say but I do have more information on this stuff than anybody on the internet does because that's just what I do I love this stuff

You shouldn't be gauging what oil you want to use based off the color it is when you change the oil. That's a very ignorant approach.

The dirty oil means it's pulling out dirt, does it not? Clean oil may not be cleaning engine. Got it?

If you look online at virgin oil samples of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, via Blackstone Labs, the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is very high in detergents and dispersants like Boron and Magnesium, more so than just about any other oil out there. So, that’s why your Pennzoil Ultra Platinum came out so dark. It was cleaning out leftover carbon deposits from your Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic oil. So, if you really want to judge the oil based on the color, I would use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for your next two oil changes (giving it a chance to clean out all that built up carbon over the years), then check the color of the oil. I’ve been running Pennzoil Ultra Platinum since I bought my truck new, and my oil is never that dark because I’ve always used the cleaner natural gas-to-oil Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.

It's supposed to be dark. This means the detergent is suspending the dirt in the oil.

Oh I get where you are going with this.
I don't use Pennzoil or Quaker state anymore due to the fact that they use paraffin wax as a lubricant in their oils.
Once it cools it sludges up over time.

I stick to Mobil one or Castrol GTX full synthetic.

The penzoil platinum blows the Motorcraft away! Look at the people qho do the REAL test! Motorcraft is good, but will never touch the penzoil synthetic! Never! That oil is the closest to amsoil that their is!

I have owned nothing but Fords and all I have run at least since the late 90's is Motorcraft 5w30 and used Motorcraft filters all have made it to 250,000 to 350,000 with no engine tear downs before selling them. Including the 5.4 that everyone loves to hate but never let me down.

You want your oil to be dark when you change it, part of an oils protection is "dispersancy", it keeps contaminants in suspension so the oil filter can filter them out and keeps the contaminants from "plating" out on the inside of your engine. You want your oil dirty and your engine clean!

After seeing multiple engine teardowns with various miles, various oil change intervals...I have come to the conclusion that 7500-10,000 mile oil change intervals is absolutely ludicrous. An engine that had its oil changed at every 5k miles with over 200,000 miles on it was 10x cleaner than an engine with 100,000 miles changed at 7500 oil change intervals. Engines with an oil change intervals at 3,000 miles were the cleanest, least wear and rings still moving very freely. I try and change my oils at 3k miles, never beyond 4k. I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, and recently have switched to Valvoline Extended Protection...the engines seem to run smoother, quieter with the Valvoline. I run Motorcraft 5w50 Full Synthetic in the Shelby, probably because thats what it came with and 0 issues. I asked Project Farm to do his tests on Valvoline Extended Protection, he said thanks for the recommendation, but so far hasn't tested it.

The darkness of the color means that the oil is holding the contaminants in suspension... If a motor oil is staying a light color, it generally has a weak detergent additive package... That Pennzoil was probably cleaning up what the Motorcraft left behind!!

The Pennzoil Ultra Platinum could have been cleaning out stuff from the engine that the Motorcraft Synthetic Blend couldn't. The color of the oil coming out isnt necessarily indicative of a lesser quality oil. Ive had other top tier oils come out looking the same way whether it be Mobil 1, Amsoil Signature Series, Redline, Schaeffer's, etc.

P.U.P. is excellent oil.....it test as well as 25.00 a Qt. Oil with the add pack it has.....the Oil may be darkening b/c of the cleaners in it, and the contaminants remain suspended by design of the Oil so that they get flushed out with Oil changes......lots of good Oil out there tho', i.m.o.....regular O.C.I.'s in the recommended wt. for Ur application are the life of an Engine regardless of the brand......;).......
