I’m having the dilemma of I’m classified as a bass but it’s not really low enough for me, my highest comfortable note is D4 and my lowest comfortable note is C1 and I CAN hit D1, there’s just not really much music for my voice type that isn’t 60 years old

I do sing Altor but I realize I can hit a high note as supprano's
But I have this problem, I can't sing a full song without unknowingly changing the keys,also the tempo and timing ...how can you help thanks

All my favourite artists are Tenors. I fight to be a Tenor but my natural voice is a Baritone and I have to change my natural voice to get there. It sounds ok but never as good as a natural Tenor on the high notes

As a bass when I wake up in the morning, my vocal cords are relaxed. In that state my voice becomes oktavist, going down to G2, 3 ledger lines below the bass staff. However, later in the day my voice can reach only to a C2 of D2 (one or two ledger below the bass staff).

Voice classification doesn't make any sense nowadays. Freddie was a baritone and Sam Smith put a lot of vocal techniques and mixed voice to reach notes. This video is completely wrong and outdated.

People seem to forget that singers naturally will sing in their chest voice, then mix, and then end up in head voice at the highest end. This is the proper way to do things. There is this misconception that mixed voice is cheating the hit high notes. This is not true at all. All singers will utilize mix voice. These vocal classifications refer to the timbre of the chest voice more than anything. These people on here saying “people hitting D5 and E5 in full chest voice” don’t really understand how the voice works. They think because there is some intensity and grit on the note that they are really belting it out. But practically no male singers can or would hit a D5 or E5 in chest voice. You will always be blending by that point, and usually much lower than that. Baritones will have a much larger distinction between their mixed voice and chest voice and head voice compared with a tenor for instance who’s chest and mix be indistinguishable sometimes. But baritones can achieve that too if it’s developed into properly. But let’s cut to the chase. Freddie Mercury used his mix almost constantly above f4 to achieve his light ballad singing and aggressive high notes (in studio recordings). He is NOT hitting those notes in “full chest”. Likewise Bruno Mars is mixing his voice almost all the time above Bb4. Bruno mars is unarguably a tenor due to his timbre, yet he still is utilizing his mix for the higher notes in his range. When done properly the mix allows you to connect your full range without a break. For rock and pop this means baritones and tenors can have quite a bit of overlap. Some people just want to throw their hands up and say well I’m not a tenor so I can never hit that note and call it a day. But if they would just learn how resonance shifts need to happen as you get higher you will unlock your entire range. Stop saying Freddie mercury would hit D5-E5 in full chest voice, because it’s just not true.

as a child I was always put in the soprano group as I was able to reach pretty high notes with ease, but nowadays (and specially after watching this video) i know that my confortable range is between G3 and G5. I can both sing "back to black" (actually one of my fav songs) quite similar to Amy Winehouse (in terms of weight and everything) but also sing Lady Gaga's "bad romance" super well... So my question is, am I more likely to be an alto or mezzo? 😮

Very nice video! I'm a man with a much higher voice than most others, but it was really cool to find out that I classify as a rare case in male singers.
