I loved it, a historical and biographical film full of feelings. A heartbreaking story of a cruel and classist Denmark, which reveals how social classes divide us and bring out the worst in human beings. A character who does not allow himself to be intimidated and undertakes a battle so unequal that he will put not only his life at risk, but also the family of marginalized people that has formed around him. Ludvig Kahlen is an outcast, a bastard who longs for a noble title, a title that is far from giving him happiness and, above all, dignity. A Mads Mikkelsen who perfectly embodies a man devastated by poverty, misunderstanding and disdain for a solitary life. A man who only hopes to live his dream...serve the king!

I love this movie... It is like discribe about the real hard life at that moment, and people are just don't care for they each others, and of course the King and the Lords, they are always the same kinds in every kingdom on the lands of the world, Arbitrary... By the way , this is super movie very good story.. very nice..👍

Fantastic movie. Mads Mikkelsen is a force of Nature on and outside the screen. God bless the ones before us who had the TRUE COURAGE to fight for freedom and justice against abusers. We all benefit from it 🙏🏼✨
The secondary story about the little girl and how it develops throughout the film is one of my favourite things about this movie...It works perfectly as a kind of tender contrast with all the harsh conditions, the brutality and injustice around them 3...And she eventually finds her way in life...A True Survivor ❤

Saw it last week! Mads outperformed himself! From the dedication of a man working the ground to someone who cares about those that helped him, everything was done perfectly! Truly a masterpiece!

I hate ppl that don't like films like this because it's.....dont know if I will get away with comment because of the tube....mads is up there with top tier actors of all time and everything I have seen him in compels me......his range is out this world..could name couple films but am just about to enjoy this..

I like how the translation went wrong, English: "The Promised Land", German: "King's Land", original Danish: "Bastarden" (literally The Bastard).

Anything with Mads in it is worth checking out. The dude can play anything.
