Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time ENDING

Who could have ever fucking guessed that Evangelion would get a good ending for Shinji and that doesn't end in the total destruction of mankind as we know it.

It's been a long road getting here.

Ah now I understand. Shinji and his father were born drowning in grief because they lost Yui. Then after all the stages, he finally found someone who helped him to accept everything and overcome his depression. But I'm sad that we don't get any conclusions to what happens with Asuka or Rei. Asuka deserves a happy ending.

I'm so happy this was the ending of an amazing series Evangelion has to be the most underrated anime ever!

So basically the ending of the old manga series but he's with Mari, not Rei. What a downgrade.

I love how he's still wearing the choker.

I may be wrong, but here’s my take on this ending:

This is ending is a complete reversal of the end of Evangelion ending, Shinji finally coming to terms that unlike that ending he can’t just wish to “have everything how it was”. He finally understood that sacrifices have to be made for progress in one self to occur and we can’t condemn people to perpetuate their timelines just because you want your present self to remain.

In that sense this ending with a mixture of real life with anime characters super impose is the symbolic way to reference and correct the mistakes of the End of Evangelion.

Truly the happy ending and right timeline for Shinji and arguably everyone in the series (I know some died but in my opinion none of their deaths were in vain like in the other movies).

Wtf in all honesty I still wish Shinji and asuka worked out in this movie series

Now we need a 3 episode slice of life

She’s a girl I would smash but I can’t accept the truth she be with shinji, I mean come on there’s only one and the real main female character, asuka, why there’s just doesn’t have a good ending that everyone can enjoyyyyyyy, maybe u guys think that it very very fine but to me, asuka stand an important place in my heart, she’s the first anime character I have a crush on, ain’t no way I gonna see her ending with a nerd. When I watching the film, close to the end shinji said he’s like asuka, man I was thinking there’s a good ending for me. Tbh the only couple I fine with is a robot who end with a robot

years after the end of evagenlion movie this sometime cured all those years of movie depression

This movie managed to give me the same amount of tears, maybe even more tears than End of Evangelion did… But happy tears, instead of tears of sadness. I absolutely love this ending to Evangelion, and part of what it makes it so sad is that the series is finally over. I’m so happy that Shinji gets the happy ending he deserves, and its so heartwarming to see him finally live a normal life and grow through his mental barriers and issues. I would do anything to be able to re-experience the feelings each Evangelion episode and movie gave me again, from beginning to end. Thank you Hideaki Anno, for creating this amazing series and providing us with such a great community of people alike.

I'm crying of happiness.

The part when Mari and Shinji run out of the train station broke me. There was just something so beautiful in seeing Shinji finally getting the happy ending he deserved.

What an ending. A huge middle finger to the audience. Instead of leaving things ambiguous, chooses the cheap copout of skipping the aftermath and jumping straight ahead 10 years only to reveal a cheap plot twist. Instead of building on the relationships the main character developed for 4 movies, that's all tossed aside in favor of an undeveloped character that exists solely for this middle finger moment. Congratulations, you subverted my expectation. I was expecting a good movie.

Ah happy ending best way to end the series.

I still don't get who Mari is supposed to be.
She's just some random who is barely a character. We don't get to know any of her fears/weaknesses/desires.

I started watching eva during pandemic and took my time to see the rebuild movies... and now with its definite ending... its closure.
