Wow! I am going to use this advice with my boys. My four year old and I are always bumping heads but this approach I am sure to add to my collection of solutions to deal with him and myself. I already told my son I am not your friend I am your mother first. But my son is very sensitive and sweet at the same time. He will do something wrong and get in trouble and we would have a discussion and like five minutes later he comes and give me a big hug and if I had overreacted then I would hug him and apologize. He is so smart, he would say mom! " It's ok" I would reply and told him it's not ok for anyone to talk to you in that manner. He said ok.

Teachers in high school and elementary school need this information and training... Maybe even police officers.

There is no mental health crisis. The doctor is right, its the parenting. Parents these days, are literally useless.
