Gunsan Modern History Museum//South Korea

Hello and welcome to the Gunsan Modern History Museum. The museum was founded in 2011 with an aim to preserve and promote the historical and cultural heritages of the Gunsan region. The museum is divided into different halls, each with different themes. In the Main Hall under the theme “Past, Present and Future of the International Trade Port in Gunsan,” you will find relics that show Gunsan’s history from the Prehistoric to the Modern Age. The themes in other halls of the museum include “Life and Culture,” which presents the way of life of Gunsan residents throughout the city’s history; “Sea Logistics,” showing the city’s geographical importance as a lively port for distribution and trade; “Sea and Culture,” which introduces the ways the sea has influenced the culture and history of Gunsan and Gogunsan; and “Relics Exploration,” highlighting the various relics uncovered in Gunsan and its surrounding areas.
