I am new to pipe smoking. My grandpa smoked a pipe and I just remember that was my favorite smell in the world. I remember him driving his diesel and lighting up as we bebopped down the road.

I've been a pipe smoker for some time, but I've never done the re-light or tamping thing. Didn't know about the rotation, either. I have two pipes, one I use for any flavored tobacco, the other for only plain tobacco. Looks like I'll need to get a couple more.

Ah smoking a pipe or a good cigar and sipping not shooting a good neat scotch or bourbon is a grand man's passion. Something that's quickly going out of fashion in today's clamping on supposed vices. A passion where men can enjoy each other's company or fellowship if other men are there and say nothing the smoking and drinking are the conversation. Im 56 now and I've enjoyed good cigars and bourbons/scotch with older men and they've taught me how to relax and enjoy your man time. No wife saying honey we have to go now or kids wanting this or that and enjoy your end of work day. I've been wanting to try a pipe for a while now and now I think I will I love the smell of pipe tobacco. Thanks for posting.

Man I made my own pipe from bamboo and and I use gauge cloth to clean. Don't have another spare pipe though. I use a tiny piece of coal for fire on top and coconut husk as filter at the bottom. Now in between them I use my own tobacco that I grow n cure over a period of time. The mornings are so great with a pipe. N sometimes if the nights are long I do that. So basically once or twice a day. I intentionally kept the bowl space to a minimum like 7 mm width and depth around 12 mm so it lights around 10-12 mins n doesn't go off. When husk starts to burn its time for potty. Winters are the best times for me. I welcome you to chill out at my balcony. Got a barbeque with a view of prune tree loaded with sparrows, nightingale, parrots, butterflies, sometimes eagles, etc.

Pipe smoking is different from smoking. Its an art, an experience, a way to ponder over many a forgotten lore and discuss the wonders of the world and the cosmos and more.
