Is there any advantage to using the 1.6 crop factor in camera instead of cropping later in post processing?
I guess the files are smaller so you can fit more on your SD card, but will that also allow you to take much more pictures in a burst before the buffer fills up? Or will it make it faster to empty the buffer to the SD card? Those reasons might convince me to give it a try. :)
But if it doesn't change the number of pics I can shoot in a burst before the buffer fills up or doesn't make it faster to empty the buffer then I'd probably prefer to shoot the full frame and crop later. This way I can choose what and how I crop.
R6, in the Face Tracking AF method (not the Spot AF), clicking the Joystick once will create a spot area in the center of the EVF. That spot area will be considered as Face and be automatically tracked. So if the camera loses focus, you just quickly point the target to the center of the EVF and push the Joystick once, a spot will appear there and start tracking automatically. Then you push and hold the Eye AF button (*, in your customization) to obtain Eye AF. If you click the Joystick one more time, the Face select will be turned off.
ОтветитьJust visiting Bosque, or do you live in NM?
ОтветитьFrom one Veteran to another Veteran, I want to thank you bro! Just setup my R6ii as yours is for my wildlife photography. Cheers from Wisconsin! Hope your shoulder is better soon!
ОтветитьThank you. well done. good luck with the shoulder. I have made all of these changes, as they make sense. but I have a circle that shows up that was never there before. What have I done and does that matter?
ОтветитьI'd like to see your video settings for the mkii, please
ОтветитьSo in this case since you have the eye detection in auto, you're no longer assign the * button to enable the eye tracking?
ОтветитьThanks Brent, this really helps me in exploring the right settings on my R6MrkII
ОтветитьYour settings work well.
ОтветитьThanks Brent. Just what I needed. I get my R6 mkll tomorrow and will try these settings. By the time I get get back to Durango I should be a pro. Good luck with the shoulder.
ОтветитьThank you for the helpful video!
ОтветитьHey Brent, I hope your shoulder is better. I set up my R5 & R6 from your earlier video in 2021 in regards to back button focus. I do weddings and birds and have had much success. Now however, since both cameras were sent to CPS for cleaning and software upgrades last month, my back buttons won't stay programmed. I have had eye focus on the AF On button and Spot Focus on the * button. I noticed from this new video that you have them swapped. Can you shed any light on why my previous settings no longer work? In the meantime, I'll set both cameras up to match your current settings and give that a whirl. Thank you for making your videos. They are very helpful. Kathy
ОтветитьAI or Servo for bird ? thanks you all
ОтветитьYour laugh is identical to Elon Musk. Pretty cool! Thanks for the tip. Very simple and helpful. Wish you a quick recovery.
ОтветитьNot particularly easy to follow with all the side comments. Was hoping for something more professional.
ОтветитьI currently use 5D mk4 with Tamron 150-600mm for bird photography. If I change to R6 mk2 with the same lens, will that make any sense?
ОтветитьHi Brent, Love your videos. I'm a total newbie to photography and have just purchased the Canon R6 Mark II. I have setup for Wildlife photography, Is there a different setup for landscape? At what ISO do you start to see noise?. Good luck with you're Shoulder.
ОтветитьThanks so much for making this video! I hope your shoulder gets fixed soon!
ОтветитьHope you're shoulder is better 🙏
ОтветитьHey Brent, Have you ever considered building a calendar? Like landscape or wildlife? I know I would for sure place an order especially if some of the shots of the lightning 🌩 🤔
ОтветитьGet well soon my friend. Regards from India.
Thanks for this video. I too recently bought the R6MK2. My settings are almost the same except I use full area focus instead of spot focus. But the best setting was the crop and full frame DOP button. I needed that and was trying to figure it out. I recently went for some Pallid Harrier pictures. The bird was at a certain distance away and though I got the focus and sharpness correctly, I was missing the reach. I dont know with 9 mp at 1.6x whether the file size will remain the same, but atleast the photo will look bigger. Going to try this out during my regular weekend practice recce. Thanks a lot. And a Happy New Year to you. May your subscribers cross 100k this year.
All the very best for your shoulder!
ОтветитьAnother great video Brent 📸 wishing you a quick recovery 🙏👍🏽
ОтветитьI’ll have this video bookmarked so that when I get the r6 Mkii, I can start with your suggestions and then possible modify them as I gain more experience shooting with it.
Do what the shoulder orthopedic specialists tells you to do, then rehab with serious intent.
I’ve been through it, it sucks, but it helps speed your recovery.
Wishing you well Brent. Take good care. Phil
ОтветитьGreat video, thanks
ОтветитьGet well soon brother. I understand the struggle with the VA. I got many heart and lung issues and dealing with them is almost as bad as my conditions. Hopefully your regional Medical Center is better than mine. Cheers.
ОтветитьUnlike the original R6, the Mark II allows 3 custom modes for video as well as stills. Do you use more than one setting for either stills or video? If so, do you vary between your various Canon bodies? The lack of custom video functions is my biggest gripe with the R6. So if I want slo-mo, for instance, I have to use my R5 for that.
ОтветитьThank you very much Brent for putting out this video for the R6MII. I truly appreciate that. I've been testing different settings and hopefully I get it set the way I like it. I hope you get your shoulder taken care of very soon.
ОтветитьThanks Brent, hopefully your shoulder is getting better soon.
ОтветитьExcellent
