I call my self a garbage head addict. While alcohol ultimately broke me. I w a pill popper and a coke head as well. It’s called being dually addicted. I loved being amped up I took Oxys. Pure amphetamine and provigil and to wind down Xanax. When I drank I would go score coke. Like I said a disgusting garbage head addict. I even tried meth which I swore I would never do. I had a stroke in 2018. Now I’m finally clean and sober.

I relapsed a month ago. I'm happy to hit a month sober, but it's so discouraging when you fall again. Even more when you think of all the people you look up to whose lives were cut short from addiction. Jamie Lee Curtis is one of my favorite actors and this is so encouraging to hear. It's easy to forget how many people recover, but the statistic makes me feel like i can do it too. I'm 18, I haven't permanently damaged my body, I almost choked and died one night; I don't want to be trapped by my apathetic lizard-brain wanting more chemicals. The feeling I get on a happy sober day is better than the feeling any drug can gove me. The worst day sober has nothing on my worst days downing pills. Sobriety's the only way to achieve inner peace, even if it's a hard path to walk.

I love Jamie and no disrespect but this is not a true opioid addiction. Taking a couple of pills every night and then going into treatment and getting sober straight away, she was not truly physically addicted. I’m an opioid addict and I can tell you the way she describes using is how I started. It was once a night I’d pop pills, then it became twice a day until I was shooting heroin up to 8 times a day. I think for Jamie Vicodin was a vice, a crutch but not a full blown addiction. She even said that she never took them before 5:30pm or after she’d finished work for the day. That’s not an addiction, sorry. No opioid addict could truly maintain that

I can so relate to Jamie. I feel so much shame & guilt. I stopped almost 1 year ago because no pharmacy would fill my Rx. I had a breakdown, went to a psych ward for 2 months forcibly & got clean. It’s a long story… my siblings don’t support me, my parents died which broke me. I have never been to a recovery program or meeting! And I hang on day by day.
