I soooooooo agree with your choices - bring it on!
ОтветитьBABEL!! please babel someone. I am not even a reader of fantasy or YA.. not even close. But i just kept on envisioning a movie..!!
ОтветитьNoooo definitely not small pleasures I could go on a passionate rant about that book.
Ответитьi have great news for you, Elena Knows is being made into a movie. It is an Argentine production and I cant wait.
ОтветитьObsessed with the thought of Hamnet being turned into a movie oh my god. Fun fact, it was one of your videos that made me want to read that book, and now it’s one of my favourites!! Not even finished the video yet I’m just hyped about that already
ОтветитьActually, an Elena Knows movie is in post production! By an Argentine production company, so not A24 but I think I prefer it that way.
Ответитьi'm sure someone has told you this already, but the autogenerated captions say "welcome to jacking the books" which uh you may or may not want to embrace
Ответитьthe girls would be a PERFECT movie with such a cool casting opportunity. I have personal beef with small pleasures but it gives that Therese from Carol vibes for me. Would loveeee to see Bunny by Mona Awad, Brutes by Dizz Tate, and Stargazer by Laurie Petrou would be amazing
ОтветитьI think Piranesi would be awesome, but idk if the scenarios would be as cool as they are in the book. The seven death of Evelyn Hardcastle could be a cool mini series
ОтветитьDon’t know if you know the work of Jane Borrodale. Two period novels called The Knot and The Book of afire are both wonderful and would make really atmospheric films. I know that Clare Keegan is a favourite of yours and they are filming Small Things like These with Cillian Murphy. I agree about Small Pleasures and that any of Clare Chambers’s books would make great films. So would Late in the Day by the brilliant Tessa Hadley. Love your vlogs.
ОтветитьI haven't read The Invisible Life of Addie Larue yet, but every time I hear the plot, I'm reminded of the movie The Age of Adaline. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
ОтветитьI would love to see Exit West by Mohsin Hamid turned into a TV series
Ответитьthis is a little backwards but if you've seen the movie "Blindness", it was based on a book written by a Portuguese novelist called Jose Saramago, who is actually the only Portuguese novelist to ever win a literary Nobel Prize (with this book). Not only is his writing itself incredibly unique, so are his stories, so interesting too. I really think you'd enjoy most of his books
ОтветитьI need Sofia Coppola to make The Girls
ОтветитьI want Daisy Jones and the Six to be turned into a faux documentary, the way it should be. The show was so disappointing.
ОтветитьVery unconventional picks for me because I typically like literary fiction, but I read The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson and thought it was written in such a cinematic way! Same with her book from last year, House Of Hunger. Something about Henderson's writing just feels like it was meant more for screen than page.
ОтветитьI’d love to see a Netflix adaptation of Aztec and Shogun
ОтветитьI hope Reese Witherspoon is watching this video 😅
ОтветитьThere's a book called America is Not the Heart by Elaine Castillo. It's about several generations of a Filipino family living in the Bay Area in the 90s. It delves into history, immigration, family, love, and it features a lot of music too. The whole era and setting would make for an amazing TV series with a banging soundtrack.
Its also an amazing book in its own right.
I've been meaning to read the girl with the louding voice for forever. Magpie is also in my TBR.
ОтветитьOH THANK GOD I was wondering where you were
ОтветитьI’d love to see the starless sea but I’d like to see it exactly the way I imagine it 😅 it would be the best movie! <3
ОтветитьThe is in fact an amazing movie based on one of Claudia Pineiro's books. The movie and book are called Thursday Widows (Las viudas de los jueves). It's an Argentinian movie from 2009, and it's about four couples living in a luxurious private neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, the secrets they keep and the price they have to pay to keep the facade of a perfect life. It is in Spanish, but i'm sure there must be subtitled versions.. I hiiighly recommend it!
ОтветитьThink Small Pleasures is being adapted for tv
ОтветитьI would love to see Our Wives Under The Sea adapted for the screen. I felt like I could see it playing out in my mind and I hope to see it on screen someday!
Ответитьi havent seen the video yet but the secret history better be in there
Ответить+1 for andrew garfield
ОтветитьJack, your timing is perfect. I just needed to procrastinate so badly and I've seen that you added a new video. Thank you! Great as always <3
ОтветитьI found out recently that A Little Life was being turned into a movie and I don't know how to feel about it : excited or really really angry
ОтветитьI need Greek retellings to get adapted.
The Song of Achilles, Circe, Ariadne, Clymenestra to name a few!!!
Dark Academia adaptations too
The Secret History, If We Were Villians (even tho that one got announced a year ago but not sure if that's still happening) Babel, Ninth House etc
soooo many good books that could be incredible tv/movies
I heard you were gonna be announcing the Booker winner! Congratulations 👏🎉 can't wait to see you there.. You deserve it😊
ОтветитьI just finished reading Not Forever, But For Now by Chuck Palahniuk, and the whole time I kept imagining what that would be like as a movie. Seems like it would be entertaining.
I also could picture The House On The Borderland and Glamorama as pretty adequate movies as well. Maybe Blood Meridian as well, but that's such a great book it could easily be botched, most movie versions probably wouldn't do it justice.
Hi Jack, have you ever read "Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson?? If not, I think you'd really enjoy it. It follows the many lives of Ursula Todd. I'm sure the writing will captivate you with how lyrical and descriptive it is. It may even cause you to shed a tear or two. This book gives The Butterfly Effect vibes. This title popped into my head as you were describing V.E. Schwab's "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue".
ОтветитьElena knows (Elena Sabe) is actually being made as a movie by Netflix Argentina! And starring some iconic argentinian actresses, exciting!
ОтветитьJack is my comfort person
ОтветитьI also think Paul is an old pal 😂
ОтветитьCan we just appreciate how ahead of its time White Teeth was considering British novels written nearly a decade later borrow heavily both in terms of themes and character arcs. (Yes I'm talking about Home Fires).
ОтветитьI just finished Cantoras by Carolina de Robertis and I want so desperately for it to be a television show. But considering we can’t seem to get any shows about lesbians to last. I have my doubts..
ОтветитьSuch a Fun Age by Kiley Reid!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI want midnight library as a movie. Starring none other than Sandra Bullock!
ОтветитьYou talked so long about Paul Mescal, I finished my meal (but I understand)
ОтветитьI'd love the Micah Nemerever book These Violent Delights to become a movie. And for the Jade City trilogy to become a tv show.
ОтветитьThe Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is in development for an adaptation! Heard it from the author during a talk she gave!
Ответитьjack in the books has really become Jack, in the books with the bookshelves. it really does look like you live in a mystical book cave i love love love!!
ОтветитьI haven’t made it to the end of this video yet BUT ATLAS SIX!!! if netflix don’t mess up the special effects and make it look stupid then it has their name ALL OVER IT!! Think shadow and bone but modern day new york and london meets umbrella academy. diverse characters, character development driven as well as plot- ugh in love! it would HAVE to be a series though with like 20 episodes each season
Ответитьspeaking of v.e. schwab, vicious and vengeful would make such a good show!! except vengeful would probably be the ‘not as good as the first season’ second season 😭😂
ОтветитьReading Bunny by Mona Awad felt like watching an A24 film. I'm really curious to see how someone would adapt it for the screen and if done properly I think it could be amazing
ОтветитьWould love to see The Spire by William Golding adapted into a movie. It's one of those A24 fodder books, dark and disturbing, and it's screaming out for an artsy, black and white adaptation. Something like The Lighthouse.
ОтветитьJack if you're looking for a show that depicts its protagonists in different time periods and is also done really well you should totally check out good omens!! also it's adapted from an amazing book
Ответить
