I’m surprised to not see any comments here pointing out the connections in this song to Shakespeare’s famous play “Hamlet.” I think this song is about that play, and the song’s narrator addresses Prince Hamlet specifically. As a literary character, Prince Hamlet is well-known for struggling with self-doubt and indecision as it relates to avenging his father, the old king of Denmark. In the play, Hamlet’s father was killed by Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius, who has usurped the throne. The line “You’re too wrapped up in your self-doubt” very clearly refers to Prince Hamlet’s internal struggle throughout the play as he fails to make any meaningful actions against his uncle. The line “You can be king again” refers to the fact that, if Prince Hamlet can take action, he can take back the crown and become the rightful ruler of Denmark. Unfortunately, in the play, he fails to do this. Most noteworthy to me is the following line: “There’s method in my madness.” The phrase “method to (one’s) madness” comes from (you guessed it) Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” I see other connections but I’ll leave it at that. Clearly I was an English major in college — LOL! Still, I think the song is very relatable and many can find comfort in it during their times of struggle and darkness, even if the source of those troubles isn’t an uncle that usurped their father’s throne.

I'm once that funny guy in the class that my girls fell for. I also love studying playing guitar for the music boy that Boyz music jam hours, or sketch my classmate during my free time.

It's our graduation day tomorrow. I'm kinda happy about it but there's also feelings of regrets and guilts because my friends left me because I got angry when they already invated my personal space .4 months without them ,not a single one of them did even gave me a hint of care about how we could solve our problem even I already tried to. I guess I wasn't that emotionally strong as they expected me to be.

In the end ,we became strangers who knows others secrets. I hope oneday I can smile again bright like the old times. I hope I find the right people for me . I hope my college life will set a brighter than my highschool life.

Just came back to this song again after about 6 years. This song was my classmates's favourite song. I miss sharing songs with them..

After a few months when selling my best friend she died and I did not have the chance to say goodbye. I went to her grave everyday I put a picture of me and her together. It was the worst day of my life. One day I brought my ukulele to the grave and played this song I also sang it. When I finished I felt her spirit with me it was like she was with me and talking to me. I was happy knowing she was there with me.

I really needed to hear this song. I had a dog we really close we best friends. But then my mom had to sell her for money. I could not stop crying, thank you for this, we need more songs like this.

I use to play this song (among others) when I was a kid and me and my friend would create stories in minecraft and have a character pretend to sing lol. We were friends for 8 years and when highschool hit, and we drifted apart. Everytime I hear this song I remember how much fun we had and how I kinda miss her..
