The egg-knot is one of the first I was taught. We use it to tie on roe for Salmon and Steelhead fishing. Works great! Unfortunately older age and arthritis makes the knot a wee bit more difficult these days.

Tip for you young wiper-snappers: Get your self a large hook and cut the pointy-end off and remove or crimp down any barbs... This makes an excellent practice tying hook when you're sitting around or even in bed. Tie a handful of knots before you go to sleep. A little each night helps build muscle-memory.

I find a figure eight knot is also pretty useful. Quick to tie, and never failed me.

Easy for you to say. I'm getting so old I find it hard to thread the line through the hook.
When I do get it right I and up making a fishing net. : )

You're missing Knot #2. Looks like somebody spliced in a Double Improved Clinch knot instead of the No-Disappoint, which everyone knows involves a bead and a Nail-less Nail Knot tool.

one of the small things I appreciate about this video is the guidance on finger work while tying these knots. If I had a video of me tying these knots with my current finger work, it might go viral lol. finger work should make me more efficient as my son is just starting so he's getting hung up on a lot of stuff and I'm tying a lot

Knots 1 & 3 are good functional knots you need to know the rest are total waste of time why would you ever bother

I realize that this video is from 2 years ago, but I have always used the first two clinch knots for fishing, I've even tied a snell knot while using hooks, but I can't tell you how appreciative I am of you showing us specifically how to tie these knots. I've been looking for different knots to use.

The knot I use is the Palomar it is simple to tie it is strong and these people tying all these knots is ridiculous.

With the egg loop, if I put a super soft bait on it and cast, wont the loop cut the bait in half if I were to cast hard from the surf?

the strongest knot i tie (the only knot i tie nowadays, has never slipped/come undone) is easier than even the first knot here, i have found that knots that require you to wrap them around x times can come undone depending on the type of line you're using

I’ve been tying the first knot without the last step for as long as I’ve been fishing . Might explain why it pulls apart so much when I do pressure tests.

Can a double knot work

90% of the time I use a palomar knot because it's fast to tie and strong enough. The rest of the time I use an improved cinch knot or a snell knot if the hook demands it.

I tie a uni knot on just about everything. In testing it always holds out longer than the line, past that it comes down to personal preference. Cantered eye's I'll tie a uni knot with nothing on the line leaving a big hoop, then I'll compress the hoop and feed it through the eye, then fish the hook through the loop and pull it all tight. The knot sits inside the eye and the hook's cantered perfectly off the line.

A bottle of superglue should be in every tackle box. Some of these knots don’t need it but It couldn’t hurt!

That is very true! You can tie the knot for many different reasons.

You forgot one other knot the polymer knot this know that I am talking about it is easy to do and when I was in to fishing I cought a 20 pound cat fish on 6 pound test line and the fishing line I used was xxx co-polymer line with that not I mentioned so if you want a good all round knot try this one.
