South Korea’s struggling ‘dirt spoons’

South Korea did a remarkable job in quickly joining the league of developed countries, but apparently their economic model's weakness is becoming more apparent than ever before. The worrying levels of low birth rates, and young people facing insurmountable challenge to secure decent career paths is a clear telltale that it needs to re-invest its economic miracle.

Yeah,,, I spent 10yrs in S.Korea...on work...and I must tell you that I could see the struggle there. I helped my S.korean girlfriend with money all the time (I gave her 1/2 of my monthly pay every month to help her family) just her to have that sense that there is another type of life in this world as well...
I am not even sure her mom knew that extra money came from me....(BUT IT DID NOT MATTER TO ME)....

I can’t make a sense and totally can’t agree with that. Dirt spoon? It’s a your choice. My friend, He has debt of his parent. His parent don’t have ability for payment. He has to pay back for it. But he has job and is paying back now. I also wake up at 5am and study for 2 hours and then go to work. When I come back home, I study til go to sleep. And Im korean too. The real problem is what is a success and achievement. Korean has really weird thought about it seriously.

Yes well just think.of your place as a cozy "tiny home" and be thankful you don't sleep on the street in a tent like many poor people globally. I wouldn't bother dating though you might get the urge to reproduce and then the next generation just has to suffer the same way.

Like I always say - people need to travel. You won't see life the same after you do. And I don't mean the luxury, beaches, boats and fancy hotel vacation style of traveling. The kind where you go into the communities and learn the local cultures. See the country and people for what it really is. Not what tourism and money wants you to see.

Slightly confused but also very on point for south korea… having to live like this but being able to afford plastic surgery… his nose is the typical actor nose and his skin definitely has seen some treatments

Every country has proverty and South Korea is no diiferent. End of story.

It’s the same the world over-if your parents/ancestors went to the right schools they got better jobs(old school tie network) and so it carries on down the generations-the rich sit at top of the hill and watch the poor people scramble around at the bottom trying to make a living
