Vegetarians should include eggs if they want to remain healthy. vagans, after 10 years, look like they are on deaths door, so eat eggs because there is no ethical dilemma. eggs have fats, high quality animals protein vs the low quality plant protein, you are an animal so you better get eggs in your diet, a hen is going to lay eggs regardless if they are fertilizedor not, why let it go to waste.

Roosters are a mixed bag. You can have one that loves you or either one that sees you as an enemy. I cull the ones that are aggressive, and I keep the one that sees me as a friend. Here is the kicker. One in ten roosters will see you as a friend. However, if you are brutal to a rooster, he will fear you and never attack you, but that is cruel, so mean roosters are for the oven. That in itself is cruel but it is what it is.

Don't you ever think chickens are dumb. Down in Key West, in the Florida Keys, there are thousands of chickens, who live all around the island. Some of the people dislike them, but they're nice birds, a beautiful coloring of red and black. One day I had to go down there and as I turned a corner, I saw a family (they hang around as families) crossing the street. The rooster led the group, followed by the hen and behind her a row of half grown chicks. As I approached in my car the rooster saw me and ran back and stood in the middle of the street, facing me. I, of course, stopped the car. He stood there while the chicks passed and after the last one crossed, he ran behind them. I then proceeded. I couldn't believe what I'd just seen, how like humans he had acted, going back to block traffic and let his "children" pass under his gaze. It was a long while before I could eat chicken again !

I mean, come on...he asks us, 'What makes chickens the most successful birds in the world?' That's easy. Chickens are successful because we keep them.... and we keep them because they are incredibly efficient at converting vegetable protein into animal protein, so we get cheap meat to shovel into our vile and ugly bodies. They are also incredibly efficient at converting vegetable protein into eggs, which we also shovel in. If this wasn't so, there'd be precious few chickens in the world, because they'd be eaten wholesale by every other carnivore.... not sure if that's quite what you could reasonably describe as successful in the animal world. Of course, it's easy for us to talk: There's nothing quite like being at the top of a food chain, now is there?
