What a sorry job of "pruning". That is butchering. Look up "how to prune a tree"!!!!!

Beautiful! I came across this whilst looking up tips for trimming a catalpa. Does yours flower? Mine doesn't, but I read that some do :)

Cool video. How long did it take to grow it to its current caliper?

They are hardest tree I’ve seen to kill I like them I have worms on mine from spring through end of summer our trees are large but cutting them back short makes for better leaves an easier to pick the worms for fishing we have bout 30 trees an lots little ones that just randomly grow an mow down best fishing worm ever that inhabits those trees

Why would anyone butcher a tree in this fashion??? It will produce weak branches and live a short, miserable life. This was from 5 years ago...I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this tree is dead by now.

I planted catalpa seed in 2004, have two trees now with flower buds blooming for the first time. I guess it's a northern catalpa. I wonder if I could shape them like your tree, they're about 8ft tall now. I don't know when is the best time to trim them.

I also have that same question what type of catalpa tree is this , I have one almost like this one  ( 5 year old ) and many branches are dieing  so I will like to prune it like this in hopes that it will revive .
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO PRUNE A TREE LIKE THIS ONE ?
