It would be a 10/10 if they stopped being greedy and kept to the £10 they were meant to for core class figures, core class figures range from £15-£30
ОтветитьI love the irony of the best looking core class Dinobot being the one Dinobot that hates his alt mode
ОтветитьLooking at Iguanus, they had NO excuse to make these so bad, there's just no justification for them not having elbows and not having combined mode feet, Grimlock needed way more paint, too.
ОтветитьI have never seen Slyg anywhere in person. I JUST got Sludge and Snarl in the past two weeks, and have had Grimlock, Swoop, and Scarr since last Summer. I feel like I'm gonna get stuck with yet another combiner with one Unobtanium member, which is frustrating considering I have the same issue with Menasor and not being able to find Breakdown. I only ever got to complete Superion and Menasor from Combiner Wars because there was always at least one limb I never found for all of the others, and I never once saw ANY of the Technobots. Makes combiners decidedly frustrating and fairly unappealing to know that I'm far more likely to be left with an incomplete set than to ever find all of them figures at retail.
ОтветитьDude, please stop calling the triceratops slug. Everybody knows that his name is SLAG
ОтветитьFirstly, I prefer the Combiner Wars version of Grimlock as the Body, would have loved a Scorn in G1 style Grimlock in Combiner Wars as an alternative body. Along with Paddles or Splash ... based on Sludge. And as for Scarr, always wanted an Ankylosaurus Dinobot, wish there was a CW or UW version of him, maybe using Snarl as a base. With the Red Swoop they had, if they had used Slag as a base for Grimstone or Grimsnarl whatever that Styracosaurus Dinobot was called, well then we'd have gotten 2 Dinobot combiners.
ОтветитьAs a big Monstructor/Dinoking fan, I am admittedly disappointed in how incomplete the combined mode is. My only hope is that, as you touched on, the inevitable Dinoking has some aggressive partsforming added into it
ОтветитьSaid they looked awful when they came out and still stand by it. Especially when a few years back I got the original volcanicus for not too much more than this.
ОтветитьSwoop is easily my favorite. Gonna make him into a BW Laserbeak custom.
ОтветитьPoor Slag. That name change just doesn’t work for this Gen X collector. ❤the Dinobots.
Ответитьunpopular opinion, i like this volcanicus over the POTP version
ОтветитьToo bad because the upgrade kit is awesome.
ОтветитьIt’s insane to think ROTF scouts adjusted for inflation would cost the same as these things…
ОтветитьIt does feel a bit...wrong having Grimlock as a leg and not part of the main body.
ОтветитьBird head!
ОтветитьI still do not know why they did not make the Dino-combiner more like Preda-King. Swoop being an arm bugs me. I think the in-toon cyberverse version is best, Sludge splits to become the arms and Swoop is the wings.
ОтветитьLooks like what they would combine into? Pretty sure the leader is traditionally the torso.
Legs: Trike & Steg
Torso: Rex & Terra
Arms: Anky & Bronto
My scarr hand falls off easily to and I hate it
ОтветитьWaiting for a 3rd party improved version in every way. I'd get these, but the price is ridiculous online, and I haven't seen them in stores.
ОтветитьI'm actually gonna be really annoyed if Dinoking is a convention exclusive
ОтветитьGrimlock not as the chest or head surprises me
Id love to have this set one day
As much as I'm spoiled by all of the third party combiners, I still think Volcanicus looks a bit too clunky for me to pick up. ROTF Legends-class Devastator was done really well, so I know Hasbro/Takara can throw together a decent little combiner...maybe I'll wait to see if the pulsecon one fixes up the issues. Great vid as always Toy Guy, thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьI can’t find swoop or scaar anywhere
ОтветитьThe combiner is soooooo much better with the upgrade kit
ОтветитьI was trying to find the imposter of the original 5 dinobots on the thumbnail and couldn't at first, so im glad scarr fits
ОтветитьFunnily enough I made an OC dinobot that turns into an ankylosaurus but I named him Smite. Also wish we could see more of Scorn, really liked him
ОтветитьHIS NAME IS FUCKING SLAG!
ОтветитьIt's both amusing and frustrating that we got an entire team of Core Dinobots before getting SS86 Swoop lmao.
ОтветитьWonder those are cyberverse legacy?
ОтветитьI passed on the Dinobot version of this in favor of the DinoKing version. I still have my old PotP Volcanicus so I really want a differnent guy all together.
ОтветитьThe other Dinobots are so terrible that I'm almost offended that Swoop and Snarl came out as competent Core Class figures 😆 These figures are amazing for how every single mode was compromised, dinosaur and robot and combiner. But I still got it becauase I love Core Class and I wanted Volcanicus, even if he and all his components look like toads.
ОтветитьUnimpressed. I guess it's nice to have tiny dinobots to fight full size Devastator with, restore a sense of scale to dioramas.
ОтветитьI am holding out for Dinoking this year... I missed the boat on the early Dinobots and I'd rather have the more niche character over duplicates of characters I already own, plus I am interested to see how it turns out with proper hands and feet.
ОтветитьBut he can flip you off, so he's a 10/10 for me.
ОтветитьThird time they did the Dinobots dirty for the sake of the combiner feature. First Energon, then POTP and now this. They look bad in all modes in my opinion. It's like Hasbro doesn't care at all about their product. 40 years experience and this is the best they can do? Hard pass again on my favorite Transformers. What a shame.
Ответить"Me Grimlock not king, me foot!... Uh yeah just foot.."
ОтветитьFun fact: Skarr predates Slash by a good bit, first appearing in Spotlight Shockwave! He is the Dinobot Medic. And with Paddles and Slash was kinda forgotten about but the design team love him as much as I do given they offhandedly said they want to give him a Leader Class. I stil plan to get them but will only get Swoop, Skarr, and Snarl
ОтветитьI have all of the core class dinobots! My mom bought me snarl first at target, then my older brother bought me grimlock and snarl from bbts, then my mom bought me swoop from target, then I bought skarr from target, and finally, my brother bought me snarl from Amazon. I only wanted to collect them all just because they can combine.
ОтветитьI don't know if it's an actual phenomena or if I'm just crazy but with these combiner sets there is usually a character that is notably more fortunate in getting good toys, it's probably just personal taste but with the constructicons it's always bonecrusher, that toyworld one is lush
but with dinobots, ignoring grimlock, it's snarl that steps up and has the easiest time being a good toy
$12 a piece... $72 total. I wonder if they would have been just a bit better if they were $15 a piece. Slightly better articulation or better feet and hands maybe. Would they be that much harder a sell at a few dollars more each if we could see where the budget went...
ОтветитьI have a funny feeling that the designers were afraid that Grimlock's elbows would be too weak as knees in Dino mode so they decided to elbow cap his ass for the sake of dino stability
ОтветитьSludge make good Goro
ОтветитьI'm still waiting on my retailer to get Snarl, two of the other dinobots are part of that order so currently i only have half the team.
Honestly that dumpy combined look is what sold me on him.
I did get an upgrade kit for mine, the difference it makes is amazing.
ОтветитьI forgot about these after they all got released
They do look like fun though
No ankles. I can understand a lot of other choices but no ankles at this point is ridiculous at theses prices. They could at least throw in extra accessories and fx
ОтветитьYou don't buy dinobots to display them in robot mode... It's dino mode or combined mode only if you get an upgrade kit.
ОтветитьIndividually they're okay, the Toyhax set helps them visually there. I know of a pair of 3D printed upgrade sets plus the DNA set coming out later this year. I went with the more expensive 3D printed kit option which has 4 hands, using the legs of each arm to give it a General Grievous/Goro setup. But those hands only hold the swords it comes with so I might get the DNA kit later & use some of its pieces. The set also comes with some gap filler parts for the small bots which really help Sludge look... less worse in robot mode. There are also individual weapon sets which give each one their sword & gun, but that can get expensive for all the sets as I think each kit costs as much as each toy, they're also 3D printed so care has to be taken with their handles.
