Can anyone make a video specifically about one camera and NOT compare it to any other camera? Focus on just that one camera and nothing else, I'm sure you will have lots to talk about. Geez!

Five years later, I am considering this camera. Can't convince myself that I absolutely NEED the features of the R3 or R4. Go figure ... At $1,000, it's now a steal.

Is there any way to adjust the exposure while the (back button) focus is pressed? I can't seem to find a way to scroll the shutter wheel or anything while in focus. This is helpful in continuous focus for moving subjects changing from a dark scene to a bright one or vice versa. Apparently you can't do this with the a7rii and you can only dial your exposure without focusing. I hope I'm wrong.

Hi Tony.  I am waiting for somebody...anybody...to do a test with birds in flight, sports, race cars, etc...with this camera to see the focus tracking speed, or lack thereof.  You will be doing the photography community a huge service because all the Sony sponsors (or "artisans") are only doing portrait demos.  I suspect moving object tests are being omitted intentionally.

s anyone know of a camera that shoots video with at least 60fps above 1080p, which is also good for stills? I wish with this camera they would have an option for 2.5k with 60fps. Surely they could make firmware for that right?

Pentax have had in body sensor stabilisation for years, I'm sure you know that but when you rave about it in the Sony models you make it sound like its a technical breakthrough. Still think you are the best out there :)

After watching your “Canon vs Nikon” video, I’m very interested to see how the Sony a7R II competes against Canon and Nikon for portrait photography. I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion on which is the best portrait lens for this camera and also, see if the Canon 70mm-200mm f2.8 with ef to e-mount adapter is a worthy alternative.

The only way to review these is to put them through their paces, in the real world, you should take one to the Amazon, and see if it can handle it.

+Tony Northrup I always appreciate your videos and the time and effort you put into them.  As one giving out advise and opinions on these Sony cameras, can you please address the challenges / cost of using adapted glass (like Canon EF) - some of these adapters have glare/reflections and can often lose communication with the body / lens and make the camera stop recording.  Also I think it's fair to point out how these Sony bodies (a7/a7r/a7s) (first round) have plummeted in value every time a new model is released.  It's great that Sony innovates and constantly bring new products to the market, but when they do that the early adopters take a huge hit price-wise in a VERY short amount of time.  Look at how long the A7/r original has been out, the used price compared to the full retail price upon release.  Huge discrepancy.

The ultimate stills and video camera already exists - the Canon 1dc.  Superior for sports shooting (12 FPS / 14 jpg) dual CF, can actually track a subject, native EF lenses, amazing 4k footage and s35 crop mode.  Sold my a7s after I picked this up - no reason to continually get Metabones IV EF adapter errors and futz with an external recorder.  Great cameras for non-moving subjects though.

Nice review.  Any idea what the video output is?  10bit 422 would be amazing, but I'm highly doubt we'd be so lucky.  Don't think Sony has released this info though.  Thanks!

Sony is such an interesting company. Often they do come out with incredible products but they ALWAYS tend to overstate their specifications. This is across the board in all their various products. TVs, Car audio, cameras, etc. I have actually come to think that this must be due to a long history of traditional Japanese pride but taken to the extreme. Because of this, I rarely consider a sony product and in fact tend to steer clear of them in general.

(This is not in ANY way a racist comment on Japanese people. I LOVE Japan and Japanese people, but does that mean that Japan, or any culture for that matter, doesnt have cultural quirks? coughamericacough obviously not)

USB 3 wouldnt be what you would want bc USB 3 didnt catch on and is not going to be continuing. USB Type C is what should of been on this camera. With the majority of photographers using Macs, Apple is going to be integrating USB C into just about everythign they make and other manufacturers are doing this as well.

Regarding the no touch screen back, the way around it for me and my A6000 is to use the playmemories app on my Tablet. You get to use touch screen for focus and have the added bonus of reviewing your photos and video on a larger screen.
