Im so confused got my lock picking set today and managed to pick both locks on my front door in under 30 seconds(with no experience at all) but the lock i have from the dollar store is so hard to pick lol, the key hole is just really small who would have thought.

OK... So the secret to lockpicking is the same as the secret to guitar playing: Practice, which I've done pretty much every day for fifty years hoping to get good at it. Who knew?

I've just always done top of the keyway, but my fingers get beat up cause I tension my pick off my finger

Um.... What do you do if Youre terrible at zipping and raking but prefer the single hook at the start and actually like top of the key way with the practice lock : / like i can rake but it feels more like luck vs. Skill but zipping I just Cant do I always over set the pins and then end up raking while bouncing tension just starting out ive only picked the practice lock with tools and a brinks 40mm with paper clips and wire from a thin key chain (not the best)

Found a very old master lock in my local park securing a road closure gate. Tried to pick it just for the hell of it, and it was very difficult to pick. It was so rusted out.

took me 3 years on and off to get to be okay and in this year, I defeated all my locks. I'm going to train at home to become a locksmith for about 2 years from now i hope i can advance in time.

Wow, I started with the 140b lock and thought I was going crazy.
Now knowing that it has 1 spool pin (mine is #3) bc it never goes on easy. I thought it was just me.
Now it makes sense

Let me go out on a limb, here: I expect the way to learn lock picking is the same as the way to get to Carnegie Hall—Practice, practice, practice!
But, I could be wrong.

Be sure to look over any cheap locks, before buying. I took Bill's advice, and bought some locks at a dollar store. Unfortunately, the keyway are too small for any tools I have.

Lastnight I found 2 paperclips. I bent onto a tension bar. I bent the other into, what I imagine as, a medium hook. I started with a cheap Chinese made lock, branded under RoadPro. Items found in truckstops. Zero success with improvised tools so far. I have ordered some real tools. Lol

would the sparrow's tuxido lock picking kit be good enough to defeat all these?

I went to my local locksmith and asked for good locks for practicing lock picking. I told me to piss off, I will end up in jail if I continue with that hobby. Not all locksmiths like us

Great video, thank you for sharing. I thought raking was king and that you could rake anything, until I tried a pad lock only a small hook would fit in with a tension bar in place lol. This hobby is so much fun.

No company can keep us out. I've been getting faster with a variety of locks. Thanks for all your videos. Time for some Christmas shopping. So far 3 units and counting.

When you do this around your house enough, you'll soon realize how easy someone could break in.
