If you liked what you heard in the intro, hit up https://dirtworld.com/ and learn how you can help make the Dirt World a better place.

Eric, Chase, and I went out to what might be the biggest project East of the Mississippi. Ames Construction was building out a new car manufacturing plant for electric vehicles.

So how big of a project, you ask? When all was said and done, these folks moved 28 million yards of dirt and rock in total. There were about 170 machines moving dirt on site. #construction #heavyequipment #jobsite

Equipment: Caterpillar 631 Scrapers pushed by Caterpillar D10 Bulldozers, Caterpillar D6 Bulldozers, Caterpillar D9 Bulldozers, Caterpillar 395 Hydraulic Excavator, John Deere 870 Large Excavator, Komatsu PC1250 Hydraulic Excavator, Caterpillar 777 Haul Truck, Caterpillar 745 Articulated Haul Truck, 874

Would be nice if they started creating Massive housing cities, so that there could be a price reduction. At the moment home prices are un-reachable for the majority of the population. The American dream is dead until housing becomes affordable again.

I was a General Construction Laborer out of High School way back in the 1980s and then I went to Truck Driving School I gravitated back to the Construction environment by learning Dump Truck to work with the excavators I hated it I was glad to get back to freight hauling My Dad was a Truck driver and he did the whole Construction environment Laborer he went to the National Schools of Construction over at Greenfield Indiana he got certified on the Scraper and Payloader and the big Push Bull Dozer he was in the Local 150 operating engineers union and once he got on with some of the Excavating contractors it was just a Rat race Whitch I found out in my time I did not like it either just glad to get back to freight hauling my Dad felt same way the construction industry is something that just don’t click with every one you would be wise to explain that to potential to people comeing to this type work

It's funny the whole "dirt world needs operators" but I went to school for heavy operating in Florida in 2010 and tried for years to get a job and no one would hire me because I didn't have any seat time other than training.. apparently running all of the equipment on the farm (from xs,dozers, belly trucks, rollers, and every tractor you've seen) and didn't want to hire me... sooo that's some bs if you ask me

I wish it was as easy to get trained on a scraper over here in the UK, dam they would never let you loose on one that quick there would be a load of paperwork and several hundreds of pounds of your cash later on and then you might get your license to operate one.
That's the problem over hear if you want to operate a different bit of machinery you have to pay for more expensive training it's just ridiculous and very very expensive.
THE UK SUCKS ASS BIG TIME

You can't drive. You're supposed to drive around the trees not through them. Where in the heck did you go to school to learn construction? This the biggest construction project for big fat people who can't drive on big machines. You suck. World construction sucks. Go build sand castles in the desert with them people. You only want money. "i'm clearing land to build a house". Who said that you have to clear the land? construction is an application of machinery, with operators, and designers. 2 of those things are missing from the equation.

You ever see the star wars with the e-walks with speeder bikes? That's how you're supposed to be thinking. You're supposed to be trying to fit into things and follow contours of the earth. You're not supposed developing the earth like it's the death star. It doesn't attract workers because you're morons. The dude with the job sorting glass can do the work that you're asking for. It didn't used to be that boring. You used to work in the woods trying to keep some of them. You're on the wrong coast. I need to sell you guys some coastal property in arizona and nevada. Saudi arabia has some coastal property that you should be working. You and your bosses need to take their casino money and keep it las vages. You're mafia aren't supposed to bring it back east. You're supposed to earn money on the east coast.

You're making the ugliest stuff. In a couple of years people are going to figure it out and wonder what in the hell you were doing. You apply technology by making things bigger and dumber rather than more intricate. You're playing with giant 5 year old lego blocks rather than the adult sets. Big blocks little brains. That's why no one wants the work.

Scrappers should have railroad couplers front and back so scrapers could push and pull each other to pick up soil. The full ones could help pull an empty one and the last ones could push the ones being filled. They could release as soon as they weren’t needed anymore. This would free up the bulldozers from pushing duty... Imagine how fast you could fill a scraper with 5 or 10 scrapers hooked together. Computer software and actuators could economize the system...

I think it’s crazy that they had to build a building a maintenance building and get equipment for the equipment just to build the plant underground and earth work. That’s the equivalent of the old saying there’s a line to stand in the line to get into a club. The PM for this project is so massive and this is probably just a typical day for them. I couldn’t imagine the headache the GC has to deal with plus the city and count infrastructure. Great video.

Thinking about all the trees that were felled and all that diesel being burned to build this EV factory. I wonder how many EVs would need to be placed on the road... and for how long... just to make the carbon spend a wash. I'm thinking decades. Maybe longer, considering all those EVs are still powered by fossil fuel burning electrical plants.

Not cool project. This is a Vietnamese company, based in Hanoi. The company is ONLY building in the US because they are receiving money from the Biden administration. Their cars don’t qualify now for yet another electric car rebate program but by building these in NC, they will. So taxpayers are funding this whole project. Ask yourself this: if EV cars are so great and save the consumer so much money, why is the federal government spending tens of $Bs, money we don’t have and adding to a doubling of the deficit under Biden? Our total federal debt is now estimated at $200B +. We are expected to spend almost $T in the interest payments alone by the end of the decade. Why not, reduce the debt and incentivize American businesses? If you’re under 50, this is your SS money going up in smoke to make a few Vietnamese and Democratic bosses even wealthier. As our debt grows our bond rating will continue to fall. What happens when the Treasury can’t raise the funds to pay for existing mandatory payments? Your SS checks will start being reduced by 2030-33 and so will military and other federal retirement checks. You can’t pay someone with an IOU.
