Great summary! I would add a few observations based on my recent reading of this book. A huge part of the difficulty of the text is that it is fragmentary even by ancient manuscript standards (I sang "lacuna, lacuna" to the tune of "Corinna, Corinna" at certain points).

There are numerous instances of reference to the opening of the mouth ritual, or the underlying method of "Telesmatics." (Not sure if I coined that) aside from describing the initiation of the scribe. It is also clear that the hieroglyphs themselves were viewed as spiritually alive, and that much of the education of the scribe required learning to listen to the voice of each of them.

Lastly, I doubt we will get much further into the connections to the Hermetica without discovering more of the related texts. 42 sounds about right. I hope they do turn up, and that someone has the nerve to publish _The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Books of Thoth_.

Hello. Love your work. Especially your sense of humor. Great way to make the work interesting to those who are not in love with it already. Which of course I am. I did notice that you pronounced Thoth in this episode as Toth, and the correct way in the episode of Who is Thoth. However, I liked your language explanation and considering how many things are written and in many different languages, as well as, writers it's no wonder how many different pronunciations there is. I'm sure you teach in an area far from me. Too bad I would love to pick your brain on what I don't know. I'm also trying to learn Hebrew and Aramaic to read ancient text in the original meaning. Translated text does not always come off the same.

That part seems to make sense, and I'm sure this will sound crazy to people that haven't studied much about it, by the way my spirit speaks to me. Psychologists had made this sound crazy on purpose and make it sound like a mental disorder. I have proof of this though. Not figuratively, but literally. I have an SB-11 Spirit Box, and my voice comes out of it back to me.

This "Paranormal" research I have done couldn't be understood with one religion, but more like three, Christianity, Hermeticism, and the Egyptian religion where it talks about about the Ka or Akh made it make it make even a little sense to me.

Hermeticism talks about how our spirits reside upon a higher plain than we do and can speak to us. Some may call it the "Holy Spirit", or others might call it an Akh even. When they say, "I was in the spirit," in the Holy Bible, I wonder if they are talking about really being and seeing through their spirit. I believe I may be able to do that when I try hard enough.

Oh, but Psychology would say that is all Schizophrenia and unlearned Christians would say, "That's Blasphemy". I thought a Psychologist was joking when she said they were trying to wipe out the belief and people's belief in religions, but not so much when I delved deeper into Psychology,. If you're an American, that would be a 1st Amendment violation against your freedom to exercise your religion flat out.

Although some would say our souls are on thin ice delving into these subjects I truly feel this is mentally one of the safest places online right now. At least for me!

this is great stuff! I imagine the scribes have worked hard to gather and form the information. they would not want some vagrant to come and take all they have worked for so easily. I imagine this is the cause for all the barriers.

Also, perhaps this is to change a persons way of thinking so they may come to understand the ideas presented. As I have come to think different after learning a 3D program.

I thank you again for your shared knowledge. I took your suggestion of The Kybalion and I've read it twice and working on a third...don't think I'll ever stop reading this. That led me to The Way of Hermes and The Hermetica. Both will be read the rest of my life. That has led me to books coming tomorrow in What is Ancient Philosophy by Hadot and Plato's Apology along with Beyond Good and Evil by Neitzsche.
