I think this film owes a nod to Mystery Men with the whole B Grade (or even none at all) superpowers thing. That film also had an audition scene for new heroes to join just like the one in Deadpool 2. Mystery Men is worth a re-view.

That might be the best fight scene of all time.

And yeah they are real comic book characters but they're largely all joke characters/haven't really been used for a long time so I dont think many people care if they die. THey wouldn't have even had a chance to be in a movie written by anyone else

I know it’s only been a bit over a year, but I already look at this video as the perfect COVID-19 time capsule.

I fucking adore this film. They got it right the second time. It's stupid, nonsensical, constantly sent me for a loop (that fakeout opening was hilarious). It was very campy and stupid and as you said, felt like a multiple issue comic book story. The source material is stupid and they clearly embraced that. Honestly I preferred it to GOTG purely for the fact that Marvel coddles you through jokes. This felt like a loveletter to the stupidity of original comic books.

Enough time has gone by for it to be pretty clear that the people who didn't get vaccinated for covid were correct lol, those things are poison.

My annoyance at Taskmaster in the MCU is that the character has a ton of personality in the comics. You can gender/race swap all you want and I'll be happy, just don't ALSO make them boring cardboard cutouts that just happen to have the same costume as an actual character.
Taskmaster's a sarcastic crook mostly in it for the money, has some humanity despite being an unrepentant mercenary. Far more asshole than psychopath.
