TRANSFORMERS: ROBOTS IN DISGUISE was the first Transformers show I watched and on FOX KIDS. Until FOX KIDS was changed to FOX BOX with new shows. Amazing and so great to see these same Transformers (AutoBots, Predacons, and Decepticons) in a different kind of animation.

Not gonna lie, i remember seeing the "Robots in Disguise" toys back then and Always thought they were part of the Armada trilogy lol

I preferred this series over the Unicron Trilogy. I watched the series as it aired on Fox Kids. Good times.

Man! My favorite memory is playing with the toys. I loved Beast Wars. I loved Beast Machines. I watched them both religiously. I only watched RiD (2001) because I was loyal to the Beast Wars story. I thought it would continue the story somehow.

I didn’t care much for the show. Loved the toys tho.

Man! I was surprised at how much I loved the toys more as cars than as animals. It was so much fun to transform them and it was fun to use them as actual toy cars. Race them. Drive them. Then transform and use them as fighters, etc.

Also the changing of colors was so cool to me. I wanted Sideburn so badly as red. [><]

Gonna be honest, I did not expect 9/11 to get mentioned, let alone to have any kind of impact on Transformers.

I remember this series confused the heck outta me when i was a kid. I was trying to figure out how this connected to Beast Wars because Gery Chalk voiced Prime in this and there were Predacons

2001 RID was my first introduction to transformers and the story it shares
Well that and the 1984 transformers movie

This series criminally underrated by everyone on the planet
It was funny, compelling, action packed and more then filled the role of just filled considering that’s all it was meant to be


I will forever respect and love this show with all my hearts it is perfect, perfect everything, down to the last minuet details

This 2001 RID incarnation needs to be revived by Takara and Hasbro. Criminally underrated. One of my first exposures after watching the Beast Wars/Beast Machines era of shows.

Yes, the cars robots/2001 robots in disguise has the G1 Transformers and Beast wars.

You’re telling me, that Disney, my childhood, bought a series that is about robots killing eachother.

I’ve fully seen RID but these were the first transformers i was given.

I actually did a Theory RID can actually be still set in G1 Universe as set before Beast Wars. With a Second Generation Optimus Prime JR taking the role of the Autobots and the Autobots were later upgraged to the Maxamiles later on while the Decepticons became the Predacons after Galvatron Vanished in the end of Rebirth in Scroponok

I had Optimus prime, ultra magnus, x-brawn, megatron & galvatron from this series. Some of my favorite transformers

my favorite serie hands down...

I got a whole bunch of the RiD line.. I wish the train was ported over to our market. We did get some Victory toyline like Star Saber. We did get some recolors of Beast Wars.

This series was what got me back into collecting Transformers on a regular basis. I did get some Beast Wars and Beast Machines toys but only the ones I really liked, including some of the Japanese ones. RID was Transformers back to transforming cars and other vehicles so that got me back in but I didn't care for the cartoon since it was aimed at kids and I was already in my late 20s. I couldn't get into Armada, Energon, and Cybertron for the same reason. Thankfully, Dreamwave was pumping out comics that were targeting an older audience but sadly they went out of business so that ended my regular TF comic collecting. IDW comics were hit or miss and I gave up on comics in general once they were more than $3 an issue.

Sorry, but the RID 2015 is a piece of sh!t.
The 2001 is way better. Again, sorry hasbro but it's true.

You can probably guess the impact this show had on me from my profile alone.

Wish we got more transformers that turned into trains, guess they just aren't marketable enough.

This RiD was my first real entry to the franchise, and it was a damn good starting point.

I remember rid was the show well sorta I was actually at the age of 1 when this show was on Cartoon Network as rerun

I must have watched a couple episodes of this when it was on Fox Kids, and I was like, "Nah, these aren't my Transformers."

Sad to know that we never got an American DVD release of this series!

I would have been in my last year of Intermediate school when this cartoon was new. I used to enjoy waiting for the weekends to come just to watch this

Well good news for all those rid 2001 fans, Hasbro will be releasing a scourge figure in their legacy velocitron line at walmart. I'm going to get him but treat him as nemesis prime and have him as galvatron's partner similar to idw

One of my biggest memories of the show is that my local station aired the show in the morning instead of the afternoon, like most markets did, so episode 3 aired here BEFORE the September attacks, instead of being delayed like the majority of the country. That said, I have a lot of affection for the show. I got into Transformers during Beast Wars, but saw G1 on VHS, especially the Rhino tapes, but couldn't easily get G1 toys when I was only 12. Robots in Disguise gave me something similar to G1 toys while being distinct, so it was exciting for me. Plus the fact it was the first show I remember ever seeing fansubbed (though only the first episode) means it's also an important part of my anime fandom.
I'd say the thing that disappoints me is how many characters share names with G1 characters in Hasbro's markets. I'd love to get characters like Fire Convoy and God Magnus in newer lines, like how we've gotten G1 styled Barricade and Bulkhead recently. But being just another alternate Optimus Prime, Megatron, etc, makes that less likely.

I'm surprised didn't mention the various Fun Pub appearances of RID Optimus. Recently I managed to get my hands on that awesome Transformers: Cybertron: Balancing Act collection IDW published back in the day, which had the Collectors' Club comics from 2005-2006, and I was totally blindsided by RID Optimus' and Ultra Magnus' sudden appearance there. Would've been a neat thing to throw in here, seeing as it's one of the only comic book appearances of any RID 2001 cast members.

RID 2001 was heavily editted due to 9/11 incident, thus made it, while still kid show, not much entertaining.
