With the aps-c crop factor of the 18-105mm lens being equivalent to 157mm . Would this lens be good enough to film football from the sideline ?

Great video! I have seen that this lens is capable of 6x zoom. That seems very short to me. The video of the plane seems more than 6x. Is there any similar video lens with electrical zoom (for videos) to have an equivalent of 20x?

Hi Arthur - I am already subscribed to you and finding your videos very informative and your relaxed presentation style. I have a question but firstly, if I can give you a bit of background. 5 months ago I purchased a Sony a6400 and a Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. I am in the main making talking head style videos. Also I use the equipment for live-streaming with the aid of an Elgato Cam-link 4k. Covid permitting I want to point the camera at others but through experimenting at home, the 16mm is just "to wide" for purpose and would require me to be in a persons face for the shot/video. I looked at one of your other videos with the Sigma 56mm 1.4 and I was sold on it before I saw this video. As you know the 6400 has no inbuilt stability - like the Sigma - and the Sony lens at least has OSS. I can afford either one but not both. What are your thoughts? Peter.

I bought this lens in January of 2021. Nothing has changed in the packaging. It's a really good lens too.

Ordered the 18-105 from Amazon with my A6400 and the lens was not recorgnized by camera. Zoom did not work and it was just a mess. I sent it back and just reordered same lens from B&H. Waiting to receive this week and we’ll see if this an isolated ssue or the lens is just crap

Hi, I want to know is this lens still wroth to buy in 2020 as all around lens. Because i want to go for family tour and want to carry only one lens. If there other option please share. (I use a6000. I want to use mostly for photography)

Please, please please do a test of 18-105 f4 on your A7 in only full frame mode in regards to sharpness(chart), bokeh & distortion(will require manual correction in Lightroom)

This lens is sharp, versatile, and well made... but has no magic, no soul, no character. Everything is clean and standard, sharp and boring. It's great for documenting things and getting details, but not for artistic or cinematic recordings.
Also.. wtf is a Camerawoman? It's Cameraman.. the word Man as a suffix and prefix includes female humans too. Like mankind, human, manned, and manhandled. You wouldn't say womankind, huwoman, womanned, or womanhandled. lmao

The G lens OSS power zoom wil make a perfect point and shoot camera ( Lens paired with our Sony A5100 ).
This lens seems to be made for the A5100 thanks to the rocking lever next to the shutter release button.

Wow, thanks for reviewing this lens. After comparing it to the Sigma primes I decided to get this instead of getting two Sigma lenses as SELP18105G is more versatile and incredibly sharp as well.

Would this be your pick if you could have just one lens? I mostly want just one lens for both portraits and traveling because I got kind of lazy to be changing always the lense. Thanks!

Hi, do you life in Japan?

For some reason when I had my Sony A6000 and 18-105 lens with flashlight on, there is always a shadow at the left bottom. The shadow disappeared when I zoomed in over 55mm or switched to 35mm lens. It seems like the lens is too big and blocked part of the flashlight. Did anyone else have this issue? Please let me know. Many many thanks!!!
