OP, thank you for this informative documentary full of so many revelations about this lawless and mysterious country! Clearly the film crew put their own lives at serious risk as surely as if they'd stepped onto a battlefield in Ukraine or Gaza. Somalia is one of the failed states along with Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, whose future seems bleak if not near hopeless. And probably through no fault of the current generation of Somalis, true economic help from a likely benefactor nation like the USA, will not be happening anytime soon if it ever does. What this video shows beyond a doubt is that merely throwing money at the region will never work! The fundamental issue of a failed state is that to BUILD an infrastructure, you need a huge team of experts from ANOTHER infrastructure just to create the basics, and because Somali is such a lethal place to be, there's little chance of that ever happening. There have to be western experts, engineers, road builders, architects, technicians of all kinds on the scene actively building infrastructure FOR them since the nation literally HAS no infrastructure worth the name. But road builders, construction workers, and technical expert need roads plus a bare minimum of personal safety to do their jobs and this is nowhere to be found here.

The fact of the matter is the one and only reason the western nations give a hoot in hell about the horn of Africa is to ensure free transit by our shipping. If the Somalis ever had the resources and/or a superpower backer, like China, they could drive shipping costs through the roof by harrying western ships transiting the Suez canal. And no doubt this is among the main concerns of first world nations world-wide.


Moreover it's hard not to be dubious of a country where civilization only exists within a hardened compound guarded by an army armed to the teeth, yet gets its intelligence via Twitter!
