These gardeners have all used their small and shady spaces very creative, and to make the best use of them. Excellent examples, Victoria.😃

I love this little garden. So cleverly planned, natural looking and charming and it's also encouraging to see that the garden doesnt cover acres of land or that the owners dont appear to have the services of a gardening team... like most of us ordinary folk😊 Thank you to you also for the video Alexandra. I've had many really good and realistic ideas from your posts. Hope you have time for your own garden!

Very nice video. Thank you! Could you please do a video on water features? Homemade, in particular, would be interesting.

Beautiful! Just a note to my fellow Americans--English ivy is an invasive plant here. But Virginia creeper will grow in shade and cover a fence; I grow rosa setigera (a native rose) on the north side of my fence. It needs a support like wire animal fencing, but it grows all the way up and over the 6' fence. It's bone hardy here in zone 6a and not very thorny. Do your homework before you plant vines!

This will be good. I've got a 4'x25' strip in Colorado. It's north facing, dry, unirrigated, rocky, windy, and steeply sloped. There is very little direct sunlight in that area, especially in the middle of the house. I think I'm going to try to imitate a meadow by seeding columbines, bulbs, foxgloves, Colorado asters, native American dicentra varieties, pansies, shooting stars, and maybe other things. This year, I'll try a test patch. I hope it works.

I have a north east facing huge balcony overlooking the Thames 🤦🏽‍♀️, in my excitement I bought sunflowers and a Dahlia and, tomato seeds, what flowers would you recommend, my heart was set on a few ranunculus ( not possible ? ) :(

Yes, lovely garden. Mine has 3 big old trees that drop thousands os leaves and many limbs and sticks. I hate it. Ivy is a pest as it invades the foundation. I consider it a weed. Would cost thousands to take out the trees.

It is gorgeous... but am I the only arachnophobe here looking at that sofa by the brickwork and pots and thinking 'no thanks!'. You just know that something will be lurking about and, with my luck regarding this (yes, it happens to me often), would scuttle up or across my legs 😱🕷🕸

Delightful! I have a 21x10 shady front garden which is abundant with ferns, volunteer Japanese maple, from 40 year old maple close by, oak leaf hydrangea, ivy, and Mahonia....it’s been like this for many years, but after watching this video, I plan to implement some of the ideas offered here. Wonderful video...

Richard and Jacqui, you guys have created a beautiful garden. The view down the length into the trees is really inviting and intriguing: i want to go exploring! Painting the fence dark green and using the borrowed landscape has really worked. You have also created a garden with real character. I almost feel like i know you from seeing your garden. Thanks for being generous enough to open it up for filming.

Excellent. I have a North facing garden. To help I added a few 3'sqr Acrylic Mirrors. Angle brackets on bottom a wooden batton on top plus expansion foam on back with plastic drip cap on top. Works a treat and diminished moss growth etc. Plants love it too. Have seedum growing on shed and out building rooftops. Just chicken wire edge +plus old carpet+stones +expansion foam has transformed a dull dank backyard. Plenty of wild life. Enjoyable and relaxing.
