Question: do you hinge your wrists or do you cock your wrists (in his book, Phil uses both terms)?
ОтветитьWorks great for me
ОтветитьHe is wrong about hold......when the moment of hitting "hold" is released....so does his swing.
ОтветитьPhil is the best teacher..I like the fact that he didn't take 15 minutes to explain this technique.
ОтветитьEverybody hates on this method and says that you need to use the bounce more and you'll skull or dig...honestly no you won't unless you really fuck up...people do that cause the dont hold their angles and they slow down coming thru...honestly, if you just have faith and don't throw the angle and go hard, it will be beautiful...yes using the bounce luke Donald style gives more room for errors but the H and H, directionally, trajectory, and distance control is, for me...a million times better...im about a 6 hc, and the thing I've come to realize (as I've down h and h only for chipping forever) is the other nice thing is the swing can be VERY short because the club is delofted...so you can seriously use a 60 degree for far far chips and get it to scream out low and check (everyone ur playing with will widen their eyes)...
Here's the other thing...you ARE still using the bounce...it creates a steeper angle yes, but you don't have to be excessively steep...people run into issues cause they take it straight up instead of rotating...if you rotate it will be shallow enough that if you don't clip it perfectly you'll be fine....you can't hit an inch behind it like you can with using the whole bounce like luke Donald, but honestly its a fuckinf chip shot...you use leading edge in your full swing, if you cant control the leading edge with this little motion, good luck to ya
I respect Phil but he is dead wrong saying hinge and hold is the ONLY effective chipping method
ОтветитьI don't think that is Phil,,,,,,why is is face digitally altered so that we cannot make out exactly who that is????
ОтветитьFirst time I was on a practice chipping green ever, I tried multiple styles to see which one I liked. The H&H seemed hard cuz of the wrists, but I swear to god, I holed my first one ever.
ОтветитьI did notice his stance was slightly open during this demo, no doubt it wasnt the basic hinge and hold basic chip, because in that he clearly sayd his stance is square and clubface is square, having said all that i'[ve found his method to be very solid and good under pressure.
ОтветитьMy chipping has improved out of site and pitching, i won my club championship and i'm getting a reputation at my club as a short game guru(thanks phil) Phil Mickleson has has the best short game in golf for the past 10 years on the pga tour.
ОтветитьLooks like he has some rotation in there for the shot, and he does turn through at least somewhat. I think he was just putting a lot of emphasis on the wrist action.
ОтветитьCan't argue with the great Phil... Simply has to work
ОтветитьWell there is the problem with this method is that your not really using the trunk and your don't have great trunkrotation in the backswing nor in the thruswing. Some other players try to rotate their upper body more in the backswing and in the thruswing aswell and have less wristhinge. Wanna know how to stop flipping the hands? Get better upperbody rotation thru the ball this keeps the hands moving.
ОтветитьThis is absolutely the only method I ever use chipping. There is no other, nor will there ever be another method which I will use. Ever.
