Kodi is a mess of instructions to setup, often doesn't end up working as intended and when it does work soon after all the add-on crap stops working. Bring back showbox!

Kodi is just a tool to watch videos, listen to music and play games conveniently in an interface that works decently on a TV. It got bad reputation because of tv boxes with forked Kodi that had pre-installed illegal add-ons

Thank you for doing some myth busting re what Kodi is and how an otherwise legal application can be used for illegal purposes. In doing so, however, you encouraged another myth - non-profits shouldn't be making a profit. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Non-profits can make virtually unlimited income-tax-exempt profit. They are taxed at a huge rate for "Unrelated Business Income" (UBI tax). UBI is pretty much what it sounds like - income derived from activities outside the scope of the business' IRS authorized non-profit purpose. For example a non-profit members only social club can admit onto its premises its members and their invited guests but not the general public. But they can only sell goods and services to their members. They cannot sell to invited guests. The member invites a guest and pays all expenses for the guest (usually food and beverage). If there is any UBI sales during the year it is reported on their Form 990T to the IRS and they pay the associated UBI tax. If the UBI becomes a "substantial source of income" IRS can remove the non-profit status. But they don't actually define the meaning of "substantial". Consequently the IRS has taken away the non-profit status of some Boy and Girl Scout troops over Christmas tree and cookie sales.
