Cool. But to be honest she's just repeating the main points from 12 step recovery programmes and literature.

With regards to the Ad, where is the line between encouraging saving for your child’s future whilst equally bashing nepotism/privilege on this channel? (Genuine question not hate lol)

Thrift shopping has become my high- the hunt for vintage decor and books has been my drug. 2024 will be my no buy year - I literally have more than enough to the point of needing to cut down on items in 3 years when I retire . Sort of self defeating to be buying stuff just to donate stuff

I just came back from a weeklong beach vacation and a trip to Indiana to take my son to college. To my surprise and delight, I didn’t charge a single thing to my credit card. I used my debit card to pay for everything. This is the first time I have done that and it felt great because I know I will not have to worry about paying anything back next month. I also didn’t purchase a single souvenir item on the trip, not even a keychain or a T-shirt like I usually do. My spending money went to food and lodging. This is by far the best trip I have had with my family because I didn’t spend any money unnecessarily and I don’t have a credit card bill waiting for me. It’s never too late to change.

One way I combat wanting new things immediately is follow the wishlist method, and then only buy what’s on that list after a significant amount of time. A significant amount of time. An example is an Essence blush I wanted. Put it on the list and waited. A few weeks or a month later, finally purchased it, but have no regrets because it didn’t feel like an impulse. This applies to all areas of my life and highly recommend it to any who struggle with or enjoy shopping. :)

I'm out @ 4min - wld be helpful for someone saying 'I had alittle bit of credit card debit' to put a figure on it; $200 or 20,000? She carried being ambiguous - found in the past unable to relate to these type of ppl so not investing 'a little bit' of my time.

Hannah was dropping so many gems! I’m so glad the holidays are over because now that free’s up money for my savings and other priorities. I’m practicing only buying my absolute needs and slowly saving overtime for wants instead. I’m super hyper focused on saving and paying off debt that a lot of my shopping wants can wait. I work from home, so I really don’t need lots of clothes since I’m practically in my pajamas everyday 😅 it feels good to save!

Been watching this video on repeat as it has really been speaking to me. Though I haven't gone into debt or anything from my spending, shopping has really felt SO compulsive for me - I feel like my need for materials and name brands controls me. This video has really helped me reflect and think about the "financial filters" I need to put in place before buying things + the deeper work I need to do with myself. Thank you so much for this video!

You cannot shop your way out of an unhappy life. Period.
I realized I shop A LOT when I feel stressed. It is like a coping mechanism for me to escape from the things that I do not want to face; it almost has nothing to do with me desiring the item lol. This video is a timely reminder. Thank you.

This is exactly what I needed. I tend to shop clothing little to nothing during all seasons BUT in autumn 🥲 this is my peak self time and I’m so nervous I gotta actually force myself to stay put. I have no issues with purchasing anything else, I’m actually super stingy about buying myself anything except clothing in the fall smh

This is very relatable topic since I am having a No-shopping month right now. I still buy the essential (mostly foods, hygenge stuffs) but I didn't buy any new clothing, make up, interior stuff. My tactics are very similar to yours, If I want to buy something I just put it on the wishlist or just screencap it and as you said, I don't want those things as much after a few weeks or days.
Another working tactic of mine is to clean the closet(or shop one's stash!) I was surprised it gives same kind of joy when you do shopping without the guilt of overspending & harming the environment.
There is one thing that makes it hard to resist impulsive shopping, which is limited time off kind of marketing. I myself am marketer and I know what this kind of thing does to your mind. FOMO makes you feel your urge to get something is so urgent and actually beneficial when it's not. I know but it really hard to resist.
The only thing I "shop" this month is the supplement for my brain, and i guess it really was for my self care and I am proud myself for sticking to my no shopping goal.

I really needed this video. Its a huge wake up call for me and got me thinking a lot about my spending habits and compulsive desires. I am sort of in financial hardship right now and I keep shopping even though I really shouldnt. This vidoe is definitely opening my eyes and causing me to really try this no-buy year. Highly considering it.

This video is reeeeally speaking to me, as a shopping addict in recovery. Thank you for these tips, I have seen many videos about it but your thoughts about the desire to want something etc really helped.
About the wishlist, giving myself a week of thinking is often enough to forget the item 😳. If I don’t forget it, I am at least less obsessed or on this emergency state so I can ask myself some questions about why I want this item :-)
