WIPO Director General Francis Gurry Opens Meeting on IP and AI

WIPO Director General Francis Gurry speaks at the opening session of the WIPO Conversation on Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence (http://ow.ly/SXzG50wtewM) at WIPO headquarters in Geneva on September 27, 2019.

Mr. Gurry outlined the policy challenges posed by the growth of AI, in particular to the IP system. The conference provided member states with an opportunity to exchange views on AI and IP policy. As AI’s growth across a range of technical fields prompts IP-related policy questions, the meeting focused on the impact of AI on IP systems, IP policies, IP rights management, and international cooperation on IP matters.
